I am sitting here drinking my first good bottle of home brew. This is actually my second batch. It is a milk stout and it is not perfect , but tastes good and has a nice smooth taste. The first batch was a Mr. Beer kit and I really had no clue what I was doing, but I did learn something from that experience. I am still waiting on the off flavors to condition out of that batch. I just wanted to say thanks for all of the information you guys provide here. I think that the problem with the first batch was my initial fermentation temperature. I didn't take a reading with a thermometer because I didn't know it was necessary. I would have probably made that same mistake again if it hadn't been for this site. I also would have been tempted to give up my new hobby. Glad that didn't happen.
