(EDIT: After reading through this this long post realized it is a book. Feel free to skip to the next post. I came on here to get some more advice about renting my home. Then caught up with the last few days and had to reply a bit. I'm not perfect and left some stuff out and I'm also very good at rambling. :D)

To all Dad's on this site. Happy Father's Day! :mug:

I've been a little busy lately and haven't checked in. Just caught up reading posts from the past few days.

There was much talk of Cheeries. After getting totally confused about male and female cheery trees. Different species (is that the right word?) and just totally getting lost... Actually before getting totally lost, I was lost. Was thinking of the song, Cheery Wine, but that was actually wrong. I was thinking of, Red Red Wine, written and sung by Neil Diamond, but also sung by U2, Bob Marley, and probably a bunch of others. Anyway. Wrong type wine I suppose.

Have I mentioned I had a few brews tonight?

Back to my ramblings:

BobbiLynn is getting hit on by guys but apologizes for them. (?)

LRB, had a good time with some beer bottles and got a little tipsy. Priceless.

BBL, posted a poem, and for the record, BBLBrewer, I loved it! Your beer brewing poem was quoted in my signature once.. you know that. That was a fun thread. I thought about resurrecting it, actually tried here. No takers. It was a great thread in my biased opinion and a lot of fun!

LeadGolmen, who really keeps this thread going I think. Ever noticed, he is always posting? :D I've read each and every of LG's post and listened to the music videos. You, have opened my eyes to music I never knew existed LG. Thank you very much my friend. This thread would not be the same without you here.

I know there are people here on this site much more savvy business wise than me. I told you I was going to rent this house out and move. Told you my basic plan and received great advice. I've already changed some things up in the rental agreement. Nothing has been signed, Craigslist listing has already been taken down because of the overwhelming responses.

I'm at a point now, I need to choose a renter. There are four people in mind. Me being the trusting idiot I am have talked to each one. I didn't promise any of them anything.

I would like to know, when I do choose a renter. Am I legally obligated to the others to explain why I didn't choose them?

I have a person in mind. It's not the family that has shown the most interest, it's a brother CPO, I know Chiefs, I know he not only has the money to take on this place he has the determination and hard working ethic to make this place his own. He will not nickle and dime me for every little thing. I know he has a sense of responsibility to take care of this place.

I could change my mind in a few days when I meet him in person, but don't think I will. I am very familiar with men like him; people like him. Hard working and true to their word. He is already the person I want to take this place and make his home. Any advice from those more savvy in these matters? This is well and above my level of experience or training.

Thank you,

Dan

No, you as the owner have the right to rent to whomever YOU choose. That all changes if you had multiple rentals and/or file as a business then you would enter into Fair Housing Act and other restrictions but as it is you don't need to even contact the others, I believe you will because you are the type of person to let the others know that it's rented and not leave them hanging waiting. (I may be way of here but you so far have been preconceived as a upstanding, straight forward kind of guy.):)

Big ol' thunderstorms rolling through the area. Was sunny and beautiful 10 minutes ago; now it is almost dark as night and deep throaty BOOOMS! from a distance and the trees are swaying and thrashing around. The best show on earth.

We just had the same thing about 30 minutes ago. Now it's gone and the sun is shinning again. That's pretty typical for here, though.

We get thunderstorms pretty regularly during summer. We'll have a nice dry summer day, then the humidity builds for a few days, BOOM - thunderstorm, then another nice dry summer day.

These aren't like Texas thunderstorms (experienced several of those while in the air force down there). We occaisionally get tornados up here too, but they are rare due to the hills. We get microbursts with localized damage, but not so many of the tear-up-your-town tornados, though Hartford CT got hit with a big one in 1979 and Springfield MA got whacked last year.

I'll exact my revenge tomorrow night when she is at work. Pan fried calf liver with slab cut bacon and onions baby! :ban:

Revenge is mine! Mwah ha ha ha!

Food of the gods man!

Liver 004.jpg

Umm, yeah...and you can OD on water if you drink enough of it. Vitamin A hypervitaminosis is only a real danger if you are eating the liver of carnivores. The occaisional meal of calf liver is all good, believe you me.

I was merely making a point about your statement that nothing toxic accumulates in the liver.

And water is not the same... hyponatremia from excessive water intake rarely occurs accidentally.

If I'm going to OD on something, I hope it's more fun than liver.

Like Porterhouse steaks? I picked up 3 of these and it was WAY too much. They were each 2# plus. NY strip on one side, filet on the other. Mmmm. I snapped some beans and grilled them with olive oil, and my wife baked some potatoes (sour cream, bacon, fresh chives), and we had a great Father's Day dinner.

Well, yeah...but I am pretty sure this calf was grain or grass fed. Cows rarely eat the livers of their dead. Eat a polar bear or sea lion liver and you are screwed, but unless you are an old-school British polar explorer I don't think you need to worry about it.

And people very rarely consume 40 lbs of calf liver accidentally. I like liver, but a pound once in a great while is more than enough, thanks. You could kill yourself eating too many apple seeds too, but odds are that you'd quit after the first 2 or 3 bushels.

Really, do you think they would stock liver in the grocery freezer in this litigious age if it was going to risk killing off patrons who lacked of sense of portion control?

Howdy late nighters. Hot weather is on us now. Fixed my AC today (backed up condensate line). Pool looks good. 4th of July is right around the corner.

Time to brew those light session beers. They go down great with the heat. An all-cascade pale ale is the perfect thing. Yoopers recipe here is a winner... I've brewed it many times.

Here's a tune that I hear a lot on Pandora. Lisa Kelly has a perfect voice. Tho, I hate the lip-synching. Argh.

For your late night soundtrack, this, from one of the LOTR soundtracks.

I've been wanting to do an all cascade pale ale with orange zest.

Yeah, that looks like enough porterhouse to kill a man. Don't usually eat meat two days in a row unless there are leftovers, but ribeye for Father's Day and grilled beef ribs tonight that I braised in some stout. The ribs are pretty intense. Redneck pan-Asian, had some green curry mashed potatoes, grilled spring onions, and then marinated/basted the ribs with chili garlic/soy/sesame/fish sauce. There will be no after dinner snacking tonight, I'm sure I don't need this last beer either. :mug:

Relax, man. I had no idea what kind of liver it was.

And they sell all sorts of fish liver supplements exceedingly high in it, so to your last question, yes.

No hate :mug: I appreciate your concern. But gosh, go try some good chopped liver sometime - that's living! I hate when folks shy away from good things based on overblown myths. If more people actually knew how to cook liver properly fewer people would have the childhood liver-leather dinner and could be enjoying some tasty and nutrient-rich foods.

I'll get off my soapbox now. (But really, find a good delicatessen and get some real chopped liver, you'll thank me). OK, I'm really done now.

I once overdosed on water and had to be hospitalized for a couple of days. It was accidental. Now when I am out working in the summer heat, I drink gatorade, well, homemade gatorade. Water with a little juice and salt.

I got almost half my berry orders picked today and I still have 3 days left to pick. I added a few more up for sale. I picked twice as many by myself then I did with my friend. We were goofing off more then we were actually picking. In 3 hours, we probably only spent 30 minutes picking. She's coming back in the morning but this time we will be serious. I did manage to scout out some sweet spots. Big ripe berries waiting to be picked. And marked the way to them with that yellow tape stuff.

Enjoying a beer now. :mug:

How much did you drink?? You really have to drink a lot, unless your sodium levels are already low.

I love me some chicken livers! Breaded and fried with some mashed taters, fried onions and jaeger sauce. Mmmm Hmmm!

Bobbi I'd love to see some photos of the berry fields.

I'm confused by your use of the word good in the same sentence with liver. I've had it a few times. To be honest, I really truly disliked the flavor.

I got a late start this morning, and the smoker isn't producing as much smoke as I was hoping. The steaks will be out for tonight. So, I made the sushi I was talking about last night instead. It was meh. To much rice for the amount of shrimp. I also don't have the hang of putting it together, my pieces where to loose and kept falling apart. The flavor was reasonable, but I think I'll try something a little different on the rice next time. The vinegar solution had more tang then I really wanted.

I bought a sirloin tip roast and cut it into steaks. I brined the steaks in 2 tbs meat tenderizer, 2 tbs brown sugar a tsp of mild curry powder and about a 1 1/2 cups water. Then put them in the smoker a couple hours later. I would have preferred to brine them longer, but like I said late start.

I went to check on the smoker after about an hour, and discovered I didn't have the pigtail all the way plugged in. :smack: They've been in the smoker for about 2 hours with it turned on now. I'll give them another two, then move them back into the fridge. I'll have them for dinner tomorrow.

I've got a pieces of clear vinyl tubing running from the smoke outlet on the smoker into a cooler. In the cooler I've got a couple frozen two liters and a rack with 5 lbs of cheddar on it. It will be interesting to see what they pick up from the apple wood smoke.

I fiddled with my new smoker. Discovered it pretty much doesn't work except on high. Now I've got some smokey goodness flowing. Now I smell like apple wood smoke. Hmm, I wonder if they make cologne that smells like this...

Not sure but I can easily go through a gallon of homemade gatorade, even on a not very hot day. Probably a couple gallons of water that day, I was sweating profusely. There are well pumps throughout the property and the day I got so sick, I was refilling constantly. Couldn't think straight and called 911. I knew family or friends couldn't help me at that point.

Bobbi I'd love to see some photos of the berry fields.

Oh, yes, I must get some pictures. They grow below the acres and acres of planted pines. Love acidic soil.

And, I'm not stoned, it's allergies that have my eyes so puffy.
