That Bottling really SUCKS.
I am going to start building my kegging set up. I hate bottling.
I am going to start digging thru Craigslist because bottling sucks.
Have I mentioned that Bottling SUCKS.

Craigslist is very slim pickings by me, so I ordered from kegconnection. Good prices, great customer service.

I switched to kegging because bottling is no fun. I loved kegging because bottling is no fun. But, I returned to some amount of bottling for two reasons: 1) some beers I do not want to have on tap since it ties up the draft fridge for too long. Yes< I could swap kegs in and out, but, no thanks, and, 2) I like to bring some beers to people out of town and lugging a keg is not for me. So, I keg most and bottle others. A nice mix.

PS I still don't enjoy bottling.

I bottled my first 8 batches, then moved to kegging for about a year. Now that I do 10 gallon batches, I keg half, and bottle the other. That way I have MY beer, and beer I can bring to others. Bottling gets easier each time you do it, now it only takes me about an hour total do bottle a 5 gallon batch.

The beauty of having a kegging setup is that you can bottle off the keg MUCH quicker and easier than priming, bottling bucket, wand, bottle condition. Some beers you want in bottles, like that 12%abv Belgian or that Barleywine you're going to age. Having those on tap is dangerous :drunk:

I can bottle an entire 5 gallon batch that was force-carbonated in the keg with my beer gun setup in about 30 minutes and the bottles are clear and 100% sediment free. Much better presentation for sharing with others or entering competitions.

Somehwhat off topic, but I just looked at keg connection and the chi company and I can't believe how expensive kegs have gotten! Apparently we've used them all up? I bought a four pack of used cornies from the chi company 2 1/2 years ago for $85!

Im thinking of getting a kegerator and I hope I can get 3 cornies in it. I want to be able to have a IPA an Irish red and a Stout on tap. A blond a red head and a brunette should cover all bases. Im sure I will always bottle however yesterday was a 10 hour work day then came home ate dinner and started the bottle was and sanitize and sani all my gear and then finally got to bottle. I was tired when it was all said and done. Now next week is going to be brew week. Im stuck do I want to make an IPA or a stout.

I have a pretty standard top freezer upright fridge for a kegerator and I can fit 4 cornies at once as long as the CO2 is outside the fridge.

I don't mind bottling ... very cathartic. Keeps me from playing kill the keg too.

Kill the keg is fun until you actually succeed and then realize that really awesome beer you've been drinking is gone forever. I keg most and bottle the high abv and one's that need age. Brewing a belgian dark strong today and it will be bottled.
