I accidentally bottled a light lager. It's only been in the fridge for a week at 40. It's FG was 0.016 and it tasted yeasty. Just wondering if I made bombs or if it can be saved?

Fermenting in the 40's for 1 week? Risky, but I have had lagers at FG after 1 week. 1.016 is probably not too far off. What was you target FG? How much priming sugar did you add? Probably wise to keep the bottles in a sturdy closed container just-in-case.

I was shooting for 1.012 After reviewing my notes it was in the primary at 70 for 4days racked and put on the garage shelf at 55 for 3days and into the fridge at 39-44 for 5 days before it got bottled.

It was to be around 1.012 After looking at my notes it was in the primary for 4 days at 70 racked and put in the garage at 50-55 for 5 days then into the garage fridge at 39-44 for 6 days before I bottled it.

Wait a sec.- 70 for 4 days? Did you use an ale yeast? If so, you're golden. If it was a lager yeast, then you're probably going to get some weird off-flavors. But, either way I think you're OK on dodging the hand grenades.

Kinda sounds like you got other issues other than bottling the wrong beer. I'm confused if you used ale or lager yeast.

I bought an American light ale kit but at the brew store they told me to use lager yeast to get the beer I was use to drinking and to ferment it at 70 till the bubbles Almost stopped then to lager it between 42 & 48. This is only the 2nd batch I've done. The first was an octoberfest that I fermented the same way a few weeks earlier that's what i was so post to bottle.

First off 4 days in primary is way too short. It sound like you got some bad info from your LHBS. It seems like you need to do some reading on the forum to get a better understanding of the length of the fermentation process. There is a wealth of knowledge here and with a little research you can be making excellent beer in no time. Don't be afraid to ask questions, someone will respond. What kind of beer are you trying to make? A steam beer is the only thing I can think of using an lager yeast at ale temperatures. Best of luck.
