I made a mistake when brewing my beer and I forgot to take a reading with my hydrometer. This is unlike me to forget this but none the less, I did. I didn’t take one when I bottled my beer either because without both readings I won’t get the proper Alcohol percentage.

My question is, is it possible to get a reading after it has been bottled or is it too late to determine this?

Thanks

Most likely too late. You could always open a bottle, stir vigorously to get rid of any carbonation, and then take a sample. However, at this point in the process, there would be little, if any, benefit.

take some uncarbed beer and measure out 100ML at 60*F. heat to 185*F for 5 min. cool to 60*F. take volume reading. Subtract final from original and that is your ABV.

Do you still have the recipe? because you could back into the OG with some quick calculation math. I know math ewwww... but seriously I do this a lot. First I would get your FG reading as mentioned above. Then figure out your total gravity from your recipe if you haven't calibrated any equipment then assume your efficiency is low like 68% and go from there. If you used all malts your in luck because that would be easier to calculate.

If you had a recipe it would help, But some quick math things for you.

GU=(SG-1)x1,000
Total Gravity=( Total beer made) x OG (in GU)

With the recipe you can calculate the total Possible gravity and work with in a range. Thats about the best I think I could do for you. Many more equations that are simple really same way you calculate recipes just backward.

Or you can just drink it before lunch on an empty stomach and see what you think.
