I had the plastic one...it broke. I got a pyrex one, it is WAY too big.

Any recommendations on one?

A lot depends on your particular hydrometer. I use a triple scale thermohydrometer that requires at least a 12" sample tube, and having murdered three glass models I finally switched to acrylic. And promptly killed the first of those, too. C'est la vie, at least they're rather inexpensive and readily available locally...

Cheers!

I just use the little plastic tube my hydrometer came in. :p

One of these days I'll buy a graduated cylinder or something. That way I'll look like I know what I'm doing....

I have a couple of test cylinders, but recently got a graduated polypropylene cylinder. It is not as clear as acrylic or glass, so can be a bit more challenging to read (I fill mine very near the top so I can see from the top), but it is way more durable. And, the graduated markings, up to 100 ml, make it handy for measuring stuff too.

Got mine on Amazon. See http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0040X3J8I/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20.
