Husks in your extract brew

I don't do extract anymore, but since I started AG I notice that vorlaufing is absolutely neccessary to keep husks out of your wort.

When you steep grains in an extract brew, I've never heard anyone worry about this. Is it not a big deal in lesser quanities or something? Seems like its nearly impossible to vorlauf with an extract brew.

Not necessarily. I normally use 2 5-gallon pots for brewing and I have a 1-gallon stock pot for steeping in small quantities. Once I'm finished steeping, I pour the sweet wort and grains through a SS screened colander into one pot then pour it back though into my boil pot. Much like a cocktail shaker.
