new to the site (obviously).
brewed a lot in college (Northern Michigan) and a bit after but I haven't brewed anyhting in several years, seems to coincide with the appearance of my kids... (My oldest is six).

My last two brews seem to have has a lot of off flavours, but they were ale's and I'm not too sure how good my sanitation was.

now several years later and a significantly bigger house, a big basement and a REAL dishwasher I'm ready to give it a go.

I usually do a double fermentation as I am paranoid about off flavours, and becuase I have the equipment.

So anyway I'm hoping this board will do for my Brewing what BimmerBoard has done for my car, a 1990 BMW 750il. I think these boards are the best thing the internet has given the world. I would not be able to ownthat car without BimmerBoard and I am equally excited about this board.

What's the top speed of your 7 Series? I had a 5 series in Germany that I only took to 144 MPH. I could have gone faster if I had better tires.

Last summer I was in Germany and had an Audi A6 turbo-diesel up over 150 MPH more than once in the 2 weeks I had it.

My Grand Am has over 50,000 miles on it in excess of 100 MPH...damn governor at 107...

My 750 does 160 mph (electornically limited)
the 740's do 155 (as do the 540's)
the 735's (when they were around) do 150.
(we're talking E32 and E38 (E39 for the 540))

These are not 100% accurate as they are translated and rounded from kmh.
the idea was that each car would have to move over for a higher 7.

BMW has started limiting all thier production cars bound for the US at 155...

oh well, we'd just get in to trouble here in them anyway.

I've only ever had the 750 at 110mph.

I've had my mom's 540 at 130mph... WOW!

I grew up just south of Lansing and the loyalty to GM products was fierce. You must get a lot of ribbing driving a German car in what is the automotive capital of the U.S. (the wife's car is a Hyundai--so I'm certainly not judging).

Lion.- it's actually not too bad in here in Madison Heights, there are a nice variety of cars, but yeah I get flipped off on the highway a LOT.

after years of Saturn and JEEP ownership it took me exactly ONE repair on the BMW to vow to NEVER work on another American car.

BMW's are clearly built to last, while American cars are built to lease.

I think that the ribbing is a bit less based on what the Big 3 (2) have done to the people of the great state of Michigan over the last 5 years.
they took the money (read:SUV's) and ran and we are in DEEEEEP DOO DOO now.

Hey Frank I'm class of '96, when's the last time you were in Marquette? The ore dock RR bridge over Front street is gone, and they're developing the actual ore dock into Condo's

as for the Campus, West Science is 3 times the size it was, and there are Tunnels between West-Jamrich-and the Library. TUNNELS!!!!!

what a bunch of wimps, they will never know the joy of an 8:00AM class in West with the wind coming down the hill from the grade school at 25 mph causing a wind chill of -40. Jamrich to West, longest 200 feet of my life

Hi PBowler. I have not been to Marquette in about twenty years. I started at NMU in 1977. I went back and finished after a stint in the Army. I remember we had snow tunnels then! I couldn't see the outside world from my window on the first floor in Gant hall for months. I had a nice built in beer cooler though.
