My day was awful. On a scale from 1-10, it was kinda like the Tiantic was filled with penguins, puppies, kittens and baby seals and crashed into Chernobyls nuclear power plant causing a time loop where every day you only had warm flat Mickey's Fine Malt Liquor to drink that was recycled through an overweight midget carny's sweaty unitard.

But then I got home and this happened:

I'm 1/2 way through my pint and just by chance I am 1/2 way better now. Amazing what a pint can do.

Been stuck with the mother in law for the last 2 months but thankfully she is going home to Alabama in a couple weeks...but I have to go back with her to help her move. At least I get to spend some time in Georgia visiting my brother.

Some days are just bad...
I just had a day of trying to solve a very detailed issue with some software made worse by a headache late afternoon.
This is a nasty issue that i have to find a solution to in a few days and the alternative to fixing it is weeks of work that will happen anyway but preferably not now...

A few very welcome motueka hopped toffee pale ales (5.5%) when i got home helped. Just got to hope i don't wake up in the middle of the night with the solution. The switching the mind off after a day like this is tricky but homebrew helps :).

One of those afternoons when you stare at the screen not doing much and getting paid for it... oh well i did come up with an attack plan for tomorrow morning and ruled a couple of things out.

It kind of feels like making no progress but in reality its building up an image of how things interact that is needed to solve the issue. With embedded software you always have to learn now things and get challenged.

Really hard to explain to non software people but software being partly a creative process you need to be in the zone and if youre not it can be a struggle

Yep. When I'm coding I get going early and listen to classical music. For whatever reason, that gets me in the groove and the day flies by. Had a good day yesterday - client leaves for trade show next week and I'm getting something working for them to show - it's ready :) Today is a hardware day, so I'm listening to music with lyrics (Fleet Foxes ).
