So, I see a lot of compact refrigerators at best buy and related stores. They all list their height, width, and depth. However, they list the MAXIMUM depth and don't tell you how big the "compressor hump" is. My keg is 9" in diameter, so I need that hump to be at least 9" from the front. I've only seen one fridge on display that I was able to measure, and even though it was pretty big and had 22" depth, the hump was only 6" from the front.

If I am buying a fridge that doesn't have a display that I can measure, how can I know that the hump is far enough back? Is there somewhere that lists these measurements, or maybe a comprehensive list of fridges appropriate for kegs?

Thanks.

I don't know what to tell you, other than another recommendation. If the height is enough inside the fridge, you could always build a shelf to make a flat floor and take up the difference in hump and front of fridge. I did this before on one of my kegerators and it gave me perfect amount of space to reuse the crisper drawers for other things like yeast. Just an option...

I built a shelf on mine as well. I think that is probably a good way to go. Without a shelf, you will lose space that other kegs can utilize.

Carry your keg into the fridge store. Tell them you'll but if it fits. That might motivate them to find a solution.

Please Do This! LOL, I can just imagine this like the couple that wants to "try out" the mattress LOL. Then come back and tell us the story.:rockin:

If your going to places like best buy they usually dont have many displays of compact fridges so you might be better off going to a "real" appliance store and just take either cardboard or paper cutouts of the circumference of you kegs, unless you really want to come back to us with a story of you taking your full size kegs to the store ;)

It seems the sanyo compact fridges are pretty popular

Man, I wish I could pull off taking a keg to the store! However, I seem to have this "I have no money to spend, so don't approach me" kind of look, so I'm not sure I could do it.

Thanks for that thread link. It seems to have lots of good info in it.

If you carry a keg into a store I'm sure you'll get attention. "Before I spend my hard earned cash I wanna make sure this damn thing's gonna fit!"

It should be pretty easy to get a piece of thick paper and just cut out a mock up. Bring it into the store and roll it into the shape of your keg with matching size for height and diameter.
