So I got some washing machine tubing in the mail today. 48" long 3/4" thick. I cut the ends off. now how do I get the tube out of the center? I know I can't pull but I seem to be making no progress when I push. Is there a trick or is the length I'm starting with too long or something?

Push in, then pull. Its like a chinese finger trap. And use a twisting motion.

Also, if youre trying to get the full 4 ft of tube, its going to take you a while...maybe even days. Took me about 2 hours to pull out 1.5 ft.

Right, I'll chop it then. I figured it was the length. so like grab the braid at a point, push it together, then take pliers or somesuch and pull the tube. rinse and repeat? I have limited experience with fingertraps =P

there is a trick. cut both ends, then place a cut end over the open jaws of a vice (open just enough to get the rubber tube through), then pull the rubber out the bottom. The vice will compress the ss mesh and the rest is history. works like a champ.

Mashtun.
and unfortunately I dont have a vice at my disposal =(
This seems impossibly hard, do some of these tubes come glued in here or something? Like my hands are wore out 10 minutes and 1 inch into the battle

you don't need a vice, i used it to hold and compress the ss mesh. you can use anything that has an opening that is about the same size as the tubing. You may be able to use an open vice grips, two pieces of wood, whatever. I struggled the same as you, then got frustrated and tried this method and it worked. It may be better to just go get some copper tubing and make a manifold for the bottom, a'la Palmer's how to brew diagram. Just use a metal saw and cut slots - it'll take a while, but works 100% better.
