I have brewers best kit for and American Pale Ale. I've done it a few times before so I was thinking I might like to buy some extra specialty grains at the LHBS and try to make it into an Imperial Pale Ale instead. Any suggestions? Should I just get more of the same grains it already comes with, Crushed Carmel L20, or something else? I've been toying with the idea of trying the BIAB method so maybe something where I try that method and then add the extract for a kind of partial mash thing. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks
Mike

The easiest (though not most cost effective) way of making it Imperial is to add less water. Make it 4 gallons instead of 5, everything will be in balance.

Caramel 120L isn't going to boost it into Imperial levels. You'd need to mash base grains, like 2-row, or perhaps just add DME. And more hops too.
