Ive just kegged up an English brown ale.

7 table/dessert spoons of table sugar in a pint glass, fill to an inch from top with boiling water, stir, let it cool, and add to keg before racking up.

Mine turned out beautiful.

Question about bottling - my first brew is fermenting now. When i'm ready to bottle it and get the sugar/water mixture ready and add it to the beer, do I just lightly stir it in so it ends up equally distributed?

Absolutely. I use a 5 gal. bucket with a spigot for bottling. I dump the priming sugar solution into the bucket first and siphon the wort into the bucket stiring gently as it fills.

I go for the no effort approach: add sugar water. curl siphon tubinjg around the bottom of the bottling bucket. then the beer flowing into the bucket naturally swirls around, mixing perfectly with no need to stir. that way i can keep my bucket covered with foil, minimizing exposure.

EDIT: wort?!? What am I saying, it's beer now! Fixed it.

Sounds like a plan, thanks
