I'm finishing my batches at around 12 gallons with at least 5.5gal going into each fermenting bucket. I've only got a couple brews under my belt with this big of a set up and was wondering how many tablets others use for this size batch?

I always had great success with 1 tablet for a 5 gallon batch and understand they're actually good for 10 gallons but I'm wondering if I should be using 2 tablets to really clear the beer.

Opinions vary on the use of wirfloc and I have never seen recomendations from the actual manufacturer. One tablet would likely work fine for a 12 gallon batch as some claim to use 1/2 for five gallons, but I doubt 2 will have any adverse affect. I have heard that you want to add it w/ 7 - 10 minutes left in the boil and not 15 -20 as some say. Since it is triggering a floccing of the break, i am not sure if more really flocs any better.

I've always used one for my 6 gallon batches. So, I'd say two. Never read the directions. Not sure what the word 'directions' means....lol.

I find half of a whirlfloc is more than adequate for a 5-gallon batch.

The manufacturer says 1 per 10 gallons. I say use one.
