Let’s start a new thread for the new year.

Last year we tallied 383.01 pounds. Let’s see how we compare…

Today I roasted two African varieties, one from Ethiopia and the other from Kenya, each 0.75 pounds.

0.75 x 2 = 1.5 pounds to start the new year.

I had some roasts in December that I never added so we're probably closer to 390lbs for last year! Here's what I have for 2023 so far:

12oz Ethiopia: Misty Valley, Yirgacheffe
12oz Yemen: Mocca Hajjah, Hajjah Governorate
12oz Papua New Guinea: Organic Purosa A/X, Eastern Highlands
12oz Dominican Republic: Organic Ramirez Washed, Jarabacoa
12oz Bolivia: Organic Apolo, La Paz Department

5 + 1.5 = 6.5lbs

Working on a half pound of Mexican coffee. Under-sung coffee region in Central America.

7.75 + 0.5 = 8.25

I don't keep track of # of lbs roasted. I usually roast 12 oz a couple times a week. I roast with a Behmor 1600+, 12 ounces is a practical limit for that roaster. I'm partial to African varieties mostly Ethiopia, Kenya. some Colombia and Guatemala. I buy from Sweet Maria's in Oakland, CA. They're local to me.

I roasted 1.5lbs of Honduran beans the other night. Plus 0.75lbs of beans from Kenya & 0.25lbs from Ethiopia.
15.75 + 2.5 = 18.25

On a side note we roasted 383.01 pounds last year. It will be interesting where we land for a group total this year.

Hello Rae,
Let me make a correction for you. This thread keeps up with a running total for the forum members total coffee roasted. We each add our total to the group total. Welcome to the forum.

40.15 + 11.5 = 51.65

I finished seasoning my Aillio Bullet drum tonight and roasted two 1lbs batches afterwards. Thank you @Ruint for stopping over to help me better understand my new roaster, provide valuable insight and suggestions and just fun enjoying a hobby with a good friend and coffee enthusiast!

53.15 + 2 - 55.15

The first roast was a Brazilian bean and the second was a Kenyan Peaberry.

63.15 + 2 = 65.15

I roast with a heat gun and stainless steel bowl, doing 8 oz. of green per batch. Right in the middle of the 4th batch my heat gun decided to give up the ghost. I have another, different model gun and quickly grabbed that to finish the job. But this other gun doesn't put out the same amount of heat as the old one, and it took a few more minutes. Next time I'll have to reduce the batch size for this gun, maybe to 6 oz, as I don't want to have coffee with a baked-out flavor.

I'd like to get a Behmor, but spending ~$500 on that wouldn't make me popular with SWMBO.
