How long is crushed grain good for? I just found a brown paper bag in the back of my beer/ingredient fridge. It has to be a couple of months old. It has 2# pale, 1# crystal, 1# honey malt,1# rye. All of them crushed. I have no idea what
I was buying them for, or why I didn't use them. Probably a "drinking too much" while brewing issue. Now, should I dump or use them in a batch?

I recently found about 20# of crushed grain sealed up in a plastic bag that had been hiding in my ingredient closet for about two years. I brewed it up and it came out pretty good.

Pick up 5 more pounds of 2-row and brew up and american rye.

Sounds good.

Should be fine, but chew a few grains until it starts tasting sweet (about 5 minutes). If it's stale, it will taste like an old soda cracker.
