How long should I run the O2 in my Inline O2 setup

I have an online O2 setup I built. The stone is a 2 micron. From what I've read and seen online the times vary. Some say 30-60 seconds, other say I.E. 5 gallon batch run 2.5 gallons in before turning it on for the rest. What would everyone suggest? I've used it once, and did the 2.5 no O2 then turned it on for the rest. The picture doesn't have the stone in it, but it is currently screwed into the bottom of the T. I'll usually do 1 minute for a regular 5-6 gallon batch.

For bigger beers I'll do 2 minutes.

I use just enough O2 so I can see it break the surface, but no large bubbles.
 
Hard to say for sure. You really need to play around with it and take O2 readings with a meter or your just shooting in the dark.
 
My buddy just showed me a Blichmann version of an inline aerator. The issue I brought up was if you plan to run the o2 the entire time, you cant take 5-10 min to run off to the fermentor or else you will burn through oxygen tanks. He said he only planned on running it for 1-2 min then killing the oxygen... I think that would work. Regardless of it oxygenating via a tube from the kettle to the fermentor or using a stone directing in carboy, 1-2 minutes should suffice. I honestly though can comment on the total ppm of o2 in the finished wort via each method. Only speculation.
 
I do 30 gallon batches. It takes me about 30 min to pump the wort from BK to fermenter. I run inline oxygen for about 10 minutes. My yeast are happy. I have never measured dissolved O2 levels.
 
Depends on your flow rate and how well the oxygen is dissolving into the wort. Commercial breweries will design longer lines with increased turbulence to ensure more oxygen gets dissolved.

You can do a simple calculation of how much oxygen you need to add and the time length for a specific flow rate.

Here's the math:
20 L batch (5 gal)
10 mg/L oxygen (for 10 ppm O2 "optimal" concentration)
20*10 = 200 mg = 0.2 g O2

31.99880 g/mol O2 molar mass
0.2/31.99880 = 0.00625023438 moles O2

1 mole ideal gas = 24.06 L @ 20°C
0.00625023438*24.06 = 0.15038063918 L (7.5 mL O2 per L)

Flow ~1 min 12 sec @ 1/8 LPM

I use an aeration wand and set the flow rate to 1/16 LPM (this still has bubbles breaking the surface) and usually oxygenate a 5 gal batch for a little over 4 minutes.

Like I mentioned there are more variables with an inline system. With a wand if there are no bubbles at the surface you can assume most of the O2 is being dissolved. The inline may be more or less effective.

In the end it comes down to learning your equipment and process for repeatability and meaningful (strictly for you) adjustments.

Does your regulator have a flow rate? just bought the blichman regulator and it has a controller on the flow. Just not sure how long and at what flow should I run this? is there a calculator somewhere?
