I only read page one so if the thread has evolved Im sorry to confuse everybody.

I dont feel my beers come close to the top commercial micros. I do however really enjoy drinking them and when others drink them I think they perceive them as being "better" becuase they know you made it and it tastes good. In a blind taste test back to back I would get creamed. So much of what we taste is attitude and perception a homebrew can beat out a commercial micro just becuase its a homebrew. BMC has 99% of america thinking their beers are the best thing in the world. BMC drinkers will argue their choice for hours. Its not always the taste that makes a beer better.

Some children dont like vegetable. I love vegetables. Do the vegetables taste different or is the perception of the taste different.

The truth is when I first started out I made stouts from extract. I had many a people only drink 1/2 the bottle. Then I took a few years off, moved to Texas. Now it's to damn hot to drink stouts :) So now I
brew ales. It seems to better now. Most people drink my homebrew over BMC. Though now just recently I started AG. So we will see if people still choose it.

Also keg now, so I only start with 1/2 a glass full:)

I find that I am consistently producing beers that are very enjoyable and are enjoyed by multiple persons. Are they as good as commercial though? Some could be comparable. I think that since I am making a new beer every time, my beer isn't as good. Commercial brews get the chance to make a recipe multiple times in order to perfect the beer and the process for that beer. My recipes that I make yearly or bi-annually are getting pretty tasty and might be able to impress a local brewer.

I've had a few great commercial beers but most are mediocre, even
the good ones are stale more often than not because they've been
on the shelf and/or at room temp too long.

If you have any brewpubs or micros close by, you shouldn't have a problem getting a fresh beer. Often I skip the store and get the bottles straight from the pub in order to get the "freshest" that I can. Tastes pretty good.
