I have a kegging system, with tank and regulator...

I make mead and since it is oxygen sensitive... charlie papazian suggest putting a layer of co2 before the siphon... I have been using my portable handheld co2 that uses like paintball metal tanks (really small). But it can get pretty expensive... anyways.. how do I use my kegging system? It has a regulator and then it just connects to a tap.... since I am not using a tap... how to a put a layer of co2 with my big co2 tank instead?

easy unscrew the quick disconnect. point the end of the tube into your carboy and turn the CO2 on as low as you can.

also if you can get a hold of a block of dry ice that will work too. just break off a small chunk and drop it in a cup of warm water then pour the fog and only the fog into the carboy as you fill it. then do the same AS you are capping it
