1.) Determine what type of beer you like
2.) Go to your local Homebrew Shop (LHBS) and purchase a basic homebrew kit and an extract recipe of a style you like...
3.) Follow the instructions in the recipe to a T...
4.) and most importantly, HAVE FUN!!

I don't know, how do you choose what kind of beer you want to brew? I did it by picking a favorite type and buying a kit which mimics that style. I can't speak to whatever process may be fluttering about between the neurons in your skull. And my mind-reading Super Magic 8-Ball broke last week, so that's out.

So..... Simplify.

Do you like beer?
What kind?

Then go buy a nice kit and have fun.

Read howtobrew.com (its free); then buy the newest edition of How To Brew.
Brew any extract kit. Then read the book again. Repeat.

Oh, and this hobby is amazing, and there are a ton of things you can do, and a ton of different ways to do it. You will want to try all kinds of things right away.

Don't. Pick a style or two, and pick a technique, and do it over and over until you are happy & comfortable with the basics.

The one thing I would add is pick a beer you like that is kinda fool proof. If you take on something really challenging and it doesn't work out, you might get discouraged.

Im goin to but a kit right now

Wheats are pretty easy if like them. A simple pale or amber is always good to start with.

The main thing is read a little here and of course howtobrew.com is an awesome free source as mentioned already.

Don't get too nervous just follow the basic instructions, make the beer, post what you did here to get some feedback, then brew a better 2nd batch!

Take good notes on volumes, temperatures, times, and gravity readings! (no you do not "need" to take gravity readings but it helps with understanding what have)!

it really is very easy to make beer!

Good luck and keep us updated!
