First time trying a NEIPA kit\recipe tonight. Waited over 30 minutes after cooling but the hops would not.settle out. Fermentor looks like pea soup but from what I read that is to be expected. However, my OG was 1.062 when I was shooting for 1.057-1.051. I suspect this is due to the suspended hops so I dont want to water it down. Suggestions? Maybe reread in the morning?
I pitched the yeast.

It will all sink eventually. Once fermentation is over, you'll be adding another mega load of dry hops, anyway.

Just try to prevent air getting to your beer. [EDIT] As long as you're using an airlock or blow off tube, make sure the lid or stopper is tightly closed. Any oxygen exposure after fermentation starts can cause oxidation, killing hop sensation, and quickly.

Well it could be due to more boiloff. Have you got the same vol in fermenter as the target plan?
You will find that you get less yield with NEIPA as beer stays absorbed and hence lost in the dry hops.
Did you temp correct your hydrometer reading ?
 
I‘m not so sure that the hops are necessarily biasing your OG measurement. If the hops are suspended, then they have very close to the same density as the liquid. If they float, then there’s a low density layer on top and it would read too low. (Foam is the extreme example.) Perhaps you won the lottery in efficiency? How do your points per gallon look?
 
1.062 from expected of 1.057 isn't a big difference, though from 1.051 is.
From your recipe, did you have a specific expected?
What was your recipe? that might help us figure out what is going on.
It's possible a bit extra hop matter could be throwing off the reading, or even bubbles attaching to the hydrometer.
Did you dump everything from the kettle into the fermenter|?
usually it's better to strain out the hop matter. |Maybe look into irish moss or similar during the boil. That will encourage all that stuff to settle out, then you can siphon from above into the fermenter.
 
i used a Brewers best recipe kit and transferred from kettle to fermenter using siphon before adding water to bring up to 5g. Reading was taken after that. I did not check temp before reading but had cooled wort to 70 before transfer and used room temp water.

It has settled out a lot this morning but I am resisting the urge to transfer (mainly because I only have two smaller chambers available),
 
I hav two small (2.5 G) fermenters i got in startup kit. If I split the batch into them I could leave some of the hops that settled behind. I pitched yeast last night around 11pm so no activity yet.
I am going to leave it be and ride it out.
Just getting nervous because this result (hops into fermenter) is different than past brews. I brewed one other IPA and did not end up with this much after cooling/transfer. This batch did use about twice as much hops and added the bulk in whirlpool stage after boil.
I am just gonna shut the closet door and try to forget/let ride .

Could be due to several factors. Incomplete mixing, being the most common.
Is that recipe for 5 gallons in your fermenter? Or for 5.5 gallons perhaps? That's 10% difference, that could be the reason you got 10% extra gravity.
Regardless, I'd let it be.

Gravity and Volume are like a rubber band:
Shorter and thicker, longer and thinner. The amount of rubber remains the same.

Not sure why your whirlpool hops remain floating. Did you stir well during the "whirlpool" to which you added the hops?
Did you add any kettle finings, such as Irish Moss, 10' before the end of the boil, to help settle out proteins and such?
