I have two first-year plants in big pots, one Liberty and one Centennial. I trained three main bines from each of the rhizomes up a twine that goes up at maybe a 30 degree angle. The main bines are maybe 8 feet long now and climbing steadily. I've got another 8 feet of twine to go though so no worries on that. The side shoots are going crazy though. Some I've looped up on to the main string, a few are hanging loose. My centennial is showing some hop flower "burrs". Seems I am overwhelmed with these side shoots. What's the best way to handle these shoots? Leave them hang, or loop on to the twine? Probably going to be a tangled mess by harvest time, we'll see. I plan on just cutting down the bines and twine to harvest, but next year I think I might need more twines to hold what I expect to be even more robust plants.
