hi guys, planted hops in large pots this spring and they did great, just chopped them for the wintr and was wondering what to do with them during winter, wich can get down to -20 here quite often. 3 sollutions : protect them and leave them outside.

or

move to my cold cellar which stays around 4 degrees celcius and is totally dark

or

put them in the garage : still -20 c but sheltered for the wind.

what would you do?

thanks!

Cellar would be awesome.

I'm in WI and I would just leave then sit outside, usually tucked up against the house with some straw around them, Did great.

Then the last two winter I said, "who cares" and left them sit. The Polar Vortex of last winter gave me three new empty pots this year.

I have a first year hallertauer plant that I grew in a pot this year (started from a cutting). I am going to dig a hole in the ground and mulch that bad boy with lots of leaves and hope it survives the frigid Canadian winter!
