OK, I had an idea for a beer. For some reason, we all missed out on saying "Hoppy Ester" to each other on Easter day. (At least I don't think anyone said it.) So I started thinking about a Hoppy Ester beer.

So it's basically a hefe with a lot of hops. I'm thinking Amarillo because I want it to have a juicy, fruity hop flavor and aroma to mix with the banana esters.

Anyone have any other hop suggestions, or suggestions for any other ingredient to make this a fruittier beer (without the use of fruit).

I see where you're coming from, but as you know, HWs usually aren't hopped up.

In my experience the extra hops overpowers the banana and leaves you with only the hop flavor.

Right, but a strongly flavored hop in the right proportions could make it really nice. I might not use more than a half ounce for bittering, but maybe double the aroma hop and beef up the flavor just a tad.

I'm going to try it in a couple of weeks. I still need to bottle my current hefe.

Umm, I think it's a good idea.

Cascade has kind of a fruity aroma/taste doesn't it?

I think if you keep to the bitter and flavor hops and leave the aroma to the yeast your nose might trick you into a seamless mesh of ester-hoppy goodness?
