I want to start a couple varieties of hops, cascade and williamette, on the eve of my house. They will have about 40' vertical to grow. I have a friend who can supply me with cascades and will order the williamette. Right now I am planning on an 8' wide spot between 2 windows with 6 strings, 3 for each. I am thining I can put a few rhizomes of each at the base of those strings. Can I plant 2 varieties in an 8' space? Can I put multiple rhizomes at the base of each group of strings to start? How many rhizomes should I start at the base of those?

One should be fine, this is my fourth year growing hops and I have so many shoots coming up that I have to cut most of them back. I also think the spacing will work, I started with 4 in a 10 foot square area and quickly cut back to two, so far that has worked well for me.
