Hey everybody, new brewer here trying to dial in my new rig and stumbled on a solution to getting hop sludge outta my primary, and not clog my CF chiller. I used a large stainless steel side stream filter left over from a job and thought It could work to at least keep my counter flow chiller from clogging..... well it worked so well on a 8 gallon clone of Hopslam I am pretty sure it can handle anything. Just thought I would share it.. sorry for the dirty rig... alot of beer was made this weekend.

I might add that it did drain the entire boil kettle but prob came close to being completely full. It was a Hopslam clone with more than a pound of hops. I wanted to boil them rather than Hopsock them to assure 100% use of the hops... Wort was still a little cloudy but nowhere near what would be expected from a huge IIPA like this one. Air lock is going mad but only put 8 gal in a 15gal barrel for the headroom.

Also I recirculated through the wort chiller till the whole kettle was room temp, so it allowed for a hop bed filter.. Prob works better than a single pass CFC direct in to the fermenter.
