Hop Blocker alteration

Hey everyone - first post! I'm hoping to get some advice on a Hop Blocker. I don't have a Blichmann pot, and my shutoff is mounted 1 1/2" above the bottom of the pot. I've seen others rig 3 elbows to raise the dip tube up and thru the 3" high hole in the Hop Blocker. Could you drill a lower hole in the Hop Blocker instead, or would that interfere with the raising of the sleeve?

I'm alternatively considering just putting in a domed false bottom like I use in my mash tun.
