bought the coopers bitter ale LME (learned that its discontinued now :( )
10 days fermenting
2 weeks in bottles warm temp, 1 week in the fridge...

turned out awesome, I can drink from the bottle, cant really see sediment unless your looking for it!... I put priming sugar in each bottle and the carb level is great!

man, I thought for sure this batch would mess up...

1. I was using a carboy for primary without a blow off tube, it got real messy, (didnt use a secondary)

2. syphon tube was too big for racking cane, got frustrated during bottling and used my mouth to start the syphon, then got frustrated again and just ended up pouring the beer into the bottles from the bottling bucket

... since then, I broke up glass carboy (I learned that boiling water = bad idea for glass lol) bought new tubes and bottling bucket and a hydrometer... told the girlfriend to buy me a refractometer for Christmas! lol

I love home brewing!

Congrats man!! My first brew is in the bottle now for only one week. I am looking forward to seeing how it turns out. I had the same problem with the fermenter that you did. Airlock blew off and made a small mess. I am using blow off tube for my second batch.

Congratulations! With the fermentation and conditiong time, I would have thought you rushed it a bit, but I certainly won't argue with success. Rather, I toast it! :mug:

Yes, boiling water is definitely bad for glass. I'm no brewing expert or anything...hell, I'm still learning...but did you cool your wort before it went into carboy? As far as I know, it's standard procedure for everything...

cool wort = happy carboy
