hey folks,

i was thinking about tweeking with my honey nut brown ale recipe which is coming in the mail sometime this week.

it has 6 lbs of amber lme and 2 lbs of minnesota clover honey, crystal and chocolate malt & northern brewers and williamette hops.

don't have the boil instructions yet but, i wanted to crank up the abv just a little, so the idea of adding honey nut cheerios came to mind.

does anyone have any suggestions reguarding the quantity of cereal to add to the boil and when? -or- should i just use 1 lb of dme and leave the cheerios for breakfast?

thanks for any help,

shane

Cherrios are mainly starches, but you are doing an extract recipe, so there won't be any enzymes to convert the starches to sugars the yeast can eat. I would also be concerned about preservatives reducing the yeast growth.
