I have heard of being able to make a PBW type cleaner at home. Just wondering if anyone knows how it is done. I know you mix a few cleaners in specific parts to get a final Powdered Brewery Wash.

Does anyone know the recipe for this Homemade PBW?

Thanks for the heads up...I turn to HBT constantly for brewing questions and couldn't find a thread about it.

In either case I see 2 contradicting recipes out there:

1. 2 Parts TSP (Red Devil) to 1 Part Oxyclean

2. 2 Parts Oxyclean to 1 Part TSP

I also found ones that use washing soda (Arm and Hammer referenced) in place of the Oxyclean

Which is closest to PBW?
Has anyone used it....does it require more rinsing or leave a film?
Is it safe?

Thanks all

per John Palmer, page 19, How to Brew, sodium percarbonate (oxyclean, PDW, straight-A) is sodium carbonate (arm & hammer super washing soda) reacted with hydrogen peroxide.
