One of my friends is giving me some soda kegs this week. I have the fridge already. I live in a rural town in Tennessee, what is the best way for me to get a used CO2 tank and also what should I be paying for one? Is it better to buy new?

A lot of places exchange tanks instead of filling them. Do a search of your area to see where the gas suppliers are and ask them if they exchange or fill and if they have tanks for sale. Buying a tank from a supplier is not usually the cheapest way. Craigslist, a junkyard, a fire extinguisher place (these have to be modified) or sometimes an old restaurant will have used tanks.

If the gas supplier does fills on the spot and you want a nice looking tank buy a new one. Otherwise stick to a used tank they work just as well and cost a lot less.
