I was looking online at some plans to build a home made mash tun. I've decided to use a 10 gallon Rubbermade cooler (brings me back to the little league days). One plan I saw talks about using a dishwasher hose, and another uses copper plumbing pipe to build a manifold. The dishwasher hose seems easier and more cost effective, but I'm a little concerned with the metal on the hose. Is it safe/food grade? Thanks for the advice. Cheers!

As long as you use stainless steel you should be ok as i understand it, just make sure its REAL stainless steel...some products arent but look like it.

I've made 2 of these over the years and are still using them. I have a 1/4" ball valve with 1/4" SS toilet braided line, with the insert removed. It never has gotten plugged after about 150 batches, if not more, and about 8 years of using them.
