I just brewed my first India Black Ale/Cascadian Dark Ale and my run off was disastrous there was sooooo much trub. I don't think it was my screens fault but rather it was cold break. Anyway the point of my post is I'm designing my brew system and I wanted to know more about whirl pools and CFCs. My CFC is just a copper pipe in a hose CFC it works great my beer came out at 50 degrees. I had to warm it too pitch my yeasties.
So do people who have a pump and a plate chiller or other CFC use a whirl pool?
Also if you whirl pool is it best to have a flat bottom kettle?
My plans are focusing on a E-Herms set up and I have always used a CFC in my brewing up to now and prefer the fact I can sanaitze it and as soon as the boil is finished I seal up the kettle and know that my wort is safe form things falling in it while it cools.
Thanks in advance
