Howdy from Orange County. I discovered this site a few days ago after my first brew (an IPA partial mash) blew up in the primary. Firstly, thank you EVERYONE for posting really helpful info....too much info, really.
I was unable to save my beer. I like to think it has moved on to a better place. Maybe that ranch where old beers go?
I discovered the "INCIDENT" a few hours after it happened. Foam shot up to the filthy pipes above, and a dusty brown krausen stalactite was oozing back into the container. I teared up a bit as I had to pour her down the toilet.
Oh well. My second brew (another IPA) is on day 2 of fermentation. I can't wait to drink it and (more importantly) to try some of the recipes offered on this board.
Beerly yours,
Scott
