The pain I feel every time I'm reminded that CW exists just gets worse year after year.
Everytime I think of it, I remember the inevitable divorce that would be in my future if I told my wife I had to leave her with the kids to go up 4x a year and spend several thousand dollars at one brewery.

Motherfuck, show up next week at a reasonable time and be guaranteed Art in the taproom and my favorite HF stout in retail. Had my last of the original batch the night of the Super Bowl last year and it held up absolutely incredibly. A 10 out of 10. Admittedly wasn't crazy about the 2016 version, it was a good beer but I thought it was outclassed by 2014 (and as far as maple barrel aged stouts go, by the maple barrel Fayston, the best beer Lawson's has ever made).

Alas, a VT trip is just not in the cards for January:(

Not gonna lie, I can't hate the attempt. I came thisclose to asking the one CW member I know for the chance. Whats the worst that can happen? Get laughed at and roundly ridiculed online? Pfft, been there.

Also, if things break right I'm FINALLY popping my Art cherry this week. I'm obnoxiously excited about this.

Liked for Art cherry, those words together sound nice

Had a few people share your same thoughts after I received that message. I disagree wholeheartedly. A friend (maybe), an acquaintance (I wouldn’t personally ask), a complete stranger (hell no). People have no shame anymore asking for a handout.

This. I know a couple members and didn’t ask. I broke trio2shine balls but this was just a jab in a conversation, not an actual “please nominate me”. People suck. Between CW and the BG&E posts, I’m tuning out the groups today.

If anyone is going up this week and is not planning to purchase both BG&E would you mind a GPIUFMB situation. Would happily cover cost and label. ;)o_O

There was a bit of a storm of this sort of activity on the tire fire HF Facebook trading groups. Nominating someone entails vouching for them putting your membership at stake if they do something dumb and get kicked out, and club rules prohibit profiting from your membership. Trading a nomination to a stranger for bottles both seems not worth the risk and against the rules of the club, not to mention the many friends most club members could likely think of to nominate before a rando with a generic trade offer o_O

Yeah, I don't understand why you would risk your membership for a random stranger under any circumstances. I nominated a trusted, long-time friend with whom I've been trading for HF for 6+ years, and who generously lets me crash at his place in VT whenever I visit. It was a quick, easy decision, and there was zero thought towards whoring it out to the highest bidder.

Sending out messages to people you don't know asking for them to vouch for you is definitely poor form and kind of embarrassing. Certainly can't argue with clowning on the guy. But that said...

To call it asking for a handout is a little much, imo. Leeet's not lose sight that it's a raffle entry to a special beer club that gained most of its members via random raffle, ya know? I've got enough fomo knowing y'all have 6 Clovers and a DBD, don't need elitist crap on top of that, thankyouverymuch;)
