10/29/2015 Florence..... Drinking so well right now. Tasting nearly as good as that 4/30/2015 ish. Citrus and sour grapes. This past year of Florence batches trying its damnedest to make me like it more than Anna!

Had one yesterday. I'm an Anna> Flo convert and it needs more time. It's getting there but it's lacking in the middle.

Still a great ******* beer.

I dunno man, different cellar conditions maybe, I have a hard time imagining this possibly tasting better. I have had a lot of Florence in my day and this is probably the second best I ever remember it being.

Kinda surprising, considering HF's efforts to combat secondary market sales... (efforts i generally support)
While FOFA tickets are in demand and a hot ticket to HF and beer fans, the issue of mules and scalping hasn't been an issue bc this fest doesn't contain a bottle release. Therefore it doesn't bring out the turdhead profiteers like a beer release does.... Yet

I haven't been since the first FoFA. Is it still a sour fest or are there a few things on tap to switch gears with? I remember they put Walden on at the end and after being in direct sunlight all day drinking nothing but acid it was like I found water in the desert.

Pretty much a sour fest last year, was palate cleansing with E. most of the day.

Okay I'll clarify: everyone who wants to go is entering and some of them are having their spouses do it too. Obviously if everyone wins we'd have extra tickets. That's extremely unlikely to happen, but if it did I'd just get them moved around by Os to people who missed out. If that's muling to you, then guilty as charged I guess.

Ugh

Actually, I realized that wasn't the first one I was talking about. It was when they changed to the $100 per person lottery thing.
Yeah, the one you're talking about was a few years ago when they ran out of beer with like an hour to go in the party and they through Walden on. I'm guessing 2013? Maybe 2012?

Fingers crossed that I finally get a ticket, particularly since I already booked a hotel. Two years and no dice. I've never hit on any of the other Hill lotteries I've entered either. My luck has to change sometime, right?

Ha was literally saying the same thing earlier.

Was hoping the 13th! My wedding is the 20th, so FoFA it is for me hopefully!

Yeah, they keep changing the rules and it's not really conducive to a bunch of dudes hanging around drinking anymore
My girlfriend has an interesting story about that, whereby she had to interact with the owner of the place over the phone months later. When they made the connection the woman said "Oh, you were there? Well, you'e welcome back any time!" Or something like that.

How have people handled DDs who don't know anyone in the area?

I've been a DD for different groups the past couple years but it seems like most people just bring an extra friend on the trip. It's still a great day and it helps everyone stay safe. You have some good food, maybe go on a short hike, listen to music, enter the raffles, and you're done. It's only the driving 'em back to Waterbury afterwards that gets me...

I put up an ISO for a ride for my girlfriend and I last year (from Waterbury) and more than one TBer offered support. It worked out great. Blazer cab will charge you an arm and a leg, but they and a couple of other ride services are options too (in an absolute pinch).

Informal poll: If there was a giant charter bus(50pp) that ran from Waterbury to Greensboro for FOFA, would there be interest? I think in the vicinity of $25-$28/pp IIRC...Vote with likes. If there's enough interest (& I get tickets) I'll be happy to facilitate this.

the last couple years I've facilitated numerous ticket exchanges for FoFA and they all were at face value... it really has been nice to see people on here not trying to rip each other off

Can you put me on the list for ISO tickets...just preparing for the inevitable letdown of another raffle not going my way.

Are we all going to the same wedding that Saturday? Would be a hell of a bottle share!

Camping at Elmore a couple nights earlier that week though if anyone wants to join me by the fire for a bottle or two.
