Made an impromptu trip up today, and am so glad that I did. Very short wait for bottles and growlers, and got to try both Flora BBR and Elab 4. That Flora was something special!

Only occurred to me now that it was likely AutumnBeerLove that filled my growlers today. Thanks, dude!

Not to take away from the Juicy talk but anyone know what happened to Clover? Not the cat but the beer.

Shaun said in some random interview I read that Clover would be released at some point this year. He was vague though, sounded like he hasn't decided or doesn't want to say yet.

Shelfies getting low, gonna have to stock up on bebeme it seems. Ain't nothin wrong with that though, really looking forward to trying it.

If juicy lasts the week (please get to Saturday) and GOM releases next week Wednesday is gonna be real nice

Found it. Paste Magazine

Paste: I’ve seen photos of Apple Brandy barrels, Coolships, and rumors of a beer called Clover. What can you tell us about your plans for 2016?

SH: Believe it or not, I have not finalized what this plan is! I’d like to travel more, brew less, and connect with my creative self in a new way. I am working on different production models—rearranging our brewery and our process—and planning to focus on our onsite experience. Clover will be released. Juicy will be released…

Every so often, Hill Farmstead sends a bunch of cases on the hush hush to Hunger Mtn Co-op. Usually on a Friday, but has been known to drop on Thursdays as well. One of the founding members of the Co-op was named Willey Higgins, and is sometimes referred to as "Willeys" by the longtime members. So when you hear of someone referencing a "Willey's Store", they are referring to what is today known by most as The Hunger Mtn Co-op. And that is today's Vermont historical lesson. Carry on...
I went to high school with Willey Higgins' son, Billy. Good kid.

I didn't like it when Willey moved the cold bottles from the back corner of the Co-op to the front of the store. Too obvious now...

First time I went after the switch I led some people to the back like a know-it-all, confidently assuring them there were more bottles there. I don't think they believed anything I said the rest of the day.

Any word on what won't make it to Saturday?

Guessing it's a reference to Arthur and Twilight selling out.

It still amazes me that it was just what, April or May of last year when there were limits on everything? All the "shelfs" were 2 case per person. Great to see how much is being pumped out with no change in quality.

After action report from HF yesterday:

The drive was easy peasy. Roads are perfect. Plenty of parking.

Pretty mellow yesterday at opening. Probably less than 10 people at each line (bottles / growlers) around 11am. The new system is awesome. Growlers, beer consumption and bottles to go couldn't have gone any smoother.

By 1pm or so it started getting very busy in the tasting room. Flora BBR bottles kicked and I hear that the Willie Bechers might not make it passed the weekend.

Juicy is wicked awesome (I'm not from New England but that's an apt description). TONs of wine barrel presence and a very nice funk to it. One of the best HF beers I've had. I wish it was in a larger format. Imagine a 750ml Juicy with wax.... ;)

CD15 was otherworldly. I've had this a couple times at home but for some reason it tasted extra special yesterday. Wow. So good. Mangos!

Lastly, my friend got a pour of Conduct of Life. Good god. The nose on that thing is incredible. A true showcase of what happens when you ship a beer like that. Again, I've had it before but nothing like that incredible medical grade Mary Jane scent levels. You definitely lose that after a few days on the road. I've also been hearing that all their IPAs and beers have been getting dialed in. Great job HF. Such a great experience and incredible beers.

Yeah everytime I drink it fresh the smell is reminiscent of some straight fire Cali OG. Now it would be even better if the actual Mary Jane in Vermont was like that also. If only the gardeners were able to use that perfectly balanced pH well water. Oh the possibilities.

Gives new meaning to Leaves of Grass

Tuned into VPR yesterday while driving back home after HF visit. Found myself listening to VT Governor Shumlin's 2016 'State of the State' address....in the middle of which he gives this tidbit:

"Now get this. Long known to out of staters for our great deer hunting, flatlanders are now coming to Vermont to beer hunt. They are literally rising at dawn to drive to the promise land where they stand in a long line and wait, and wait, and wait some more to purchase Vermont’s world award winning beers, which they carry back with them in the trunks of their cars to lift up their miserable lives because they don’t live in Vermont."

Touché Mr Governor

Looks like Elab gone too.

Don't condemn the whole state because most of the bud you see as a recent immigrant is garbage.
