I enjoyed the new batch of Florence, even though it didn't have as much of the usual "HF character". The pour I drank heavily showcased the wheat aspects of the grist, which I'm typically a fan of in saisons. I'm curious to see what some time does to it.

EDIT: ugh Arthur added to the bottle list for this week in addition to everything from last week. Why couldn't it have been a week earlier?!?!?!?! I could have spent another 250 bucks.

so outside of the festival beers... I have 2 new favorites

I always loved Mary but now the Works of Love hoppy blonde and the Conduct of Life are right up there with beers I can drink for days...

Completely agree on Mary and Conduct of Life. CoL is one of the best pale ales I've had and super crushable. Mary is an incredibly impressive beer in its lack of flaws, pilsners are so easy to screw up and there's nowhere to hide mistakes but it had none. I was actually sad I didn't grab a growler of it for people back home to try when I was killing glasses of it at SLM. Definitely one of the best American examples of the style I've tried.

I can't believe I'm going to ask this, but has anyone had the August 2014 batch of Dorothy lately?

I'm curious how time has treated this gal. Is she still the muted black and white intro stuck in Kansas or has she flown up that tornado and is full of color and life now?

I prefer 3/15 Dorothy to 12/14 Dorothy by a wide margin, never had 8/14 Dorothy, taste similar to 12/14?

anyone had a 5/28/2015 and a 4/16/2015 Bro Soigne recently? still haven't opened a 5/28 but that 4/16 batch is drinking absolutely phenomenal right now!

What?? What wit beer do you drink? Wits are known for coriander and Orange peel and you think that's what the Florence variant taste like?
Bad word choice. Let's go with Hefeweizen. I'm no brewer, pro, beer judge, or anything. (Clearly :p)

The 5/28 is a ridiculously good batch, and also really beautiful with the pinkish blood orange color. Maybe my favorite Soigne yet and it's always been one of my favorite HF beers.

Funnily enough the 2013 batch on at FoFA didn't do a ton for me, but I think that's just because I was blown away by the fresh pour from the bottle at the tasting room the day before.

Was the FoFA BroSo a 2013? I don't recall the signage distinguishing it as such like they did with Anna and Arthur. I thought it was a fresh batch.

EDIT: per the published taplist on their website it says it was 2014

Not sure if this has been covered. But-

Tasters this year not wine glasses? Or are the wine glasses for the anniv partays?

just opened a SH Nelson, damn it's good like most of you said but I think Mosaic edges it out slightly imo...

Does anyone know if Shaun has ever made or thought about making a Helles? I'm sure Mary is a great pilsner, but I've always much preferred Bavaria's state drink and would love to see what could be done in the US.

When I left this weekend I was mentally thinking I wouldn't be able to come back again until FoFA next year, but damn do I want to visit the new tasting room sooner than that when it's open. Maybe I'll make a trip up around Thanksgiving when I have 5 days off work. I know they are always closed Thanksgiving day, but what's the usual story been in the past for Friday/Saturday? Black Friday at HF/Waterbury sounds like a way more relaxing idea than chasing BCBS again this year.

End of October here as usual, we try to get up the towards the end of leaf season, it's not nearly as crowded (not HF, just VT in general)

uh.. I was there last year for the last week of foliage season and Waterbury/Stowe was incredibly crowded... the bus loads of old people made driving on 100 pretty rough

exactly we went the very last week of October last year is it was so so as far as people, not horrible but not nearly as bad as the year prior when we went second week of October. It was an utter **** show of people rubbernecking all over.

Okay so seriously thinking now about Thanksgiving week and have some friends potentially interested who aren't doing family-related stuff. If anyone is interested in some kind of TB Thanksgiving in Vermont type deal, let me know (obviously not something that needs to be urgently decided). Obviously somewhat contingent on HF not being closed for the entire week or something similar.

oldp0rt I'm sure you at least won't have any plans for US Thanksgiving. :D
