After a couple of seconds I thought about doing just that but by then she was already at her car, luckily she was in a spot right next to the door.

A few moments after that a tricked-out Escalade pulled up right next to the line and a guy wearing a suit and tie jumped in with a case of Heady. The whole scene was kind of surreal.
So you really knocked her over and stole it?

I live an hour and a half away and I usually go once for special bottle releases.... if the growler line is long I just go in to the bottle line get my special bottle allocation a case or two of some saisons and leave. So as a local that doesnt need to hoard all the bottles I have no reason to go back up the second day to get more special bottles. So if I am going once and the bottle limit is 1 or even 3 it doesnt make a difference because I probably wont be coming again regardless for that same release. I think it will make my experience going to HF a little better in terms of how congested it gets up there and how long these special bottles stay up for sale.

Do they selll in house bottles for consumption as well? Or is it 1 bottle, period?

nope... they recently got a license to sell beer to drink in house but that likely won't be an option until the new tasting room is open...

so it will be whatever the allotment is for the special release (usually between 1 and 4 bottles) and then a big allotment of the other saisons... so it's still worth it

Gotcha. Thanks for the info Os.

added some after you quoted... the new rule is for special releases with small counts... or essentially the BA stuff...

so essentially you could go this week and get 1 bottle of CD11 but also get 24 Arthur, 24 Dorothy and 24 Convivial... you could then return the following day and get more Arthur, Dorothy and Convivial... you would only be affected on the CD11 purchase

yeah that was my understanding when i read the new rule. It will just make it harder to get the BA stuff now. That is why I asked about selling additional bottles for in house. that way if some one didn;t like it, they could possibly trade it hahaha. Have to get my hopes up some how that I will be able to try some of that HF goodness hahaha.

not very many have been 1 bottle limits... so that's a start... I'm hoping they have some bottles for in house consumption as well... but even just taps for more than a sample will be a nice added bonus to the trip

If can get said beer without having to wait in the growler line will be even better

I may be way off here but I believe retail and tap room will be separate...

I thought that the plans called for all retail/tap room activities to be moved to the new wing, and then the former retail space, which was always intended to be temporary, would turn into more barrel space or something along those lines?

I hope you're right though, Os (and you would know better than me :p ).

I'm certainly not sure where I read or came up with the idea that they were separate areas... but I'd still assume the line for having a beer and that for purchasing beer to go will be 2 different lines... as bad as the lines are right now, it really is run quite effectively... has definitely improved the past couple years and is mostly due to the amount of people there and the amount of growlers that have to be filled...

we'll see... and maybe it's wishful thinking but I'm imagining a space where you can just chill and drink a beer

I've asked in the past and have been told this exactly. The current space is really the barrel room and all sales/in house consumption would be in the new area. I haven't seen the new area so I don't know how big it is, but it looks to be bigger than the current space from the outside.

Maybe it's the age old "I drove further so I'm entitled more than the person who had a short ride" argument?
it par that when i make the 16+ drive 2x a year sure i want to be abel to get as much as possible to hold me over till the next time... :p Vermont is a destination for me and has been since 1996....

It's not much bigger. With chairs and tables and stuff, it will be a LOT smaller than the current temporary space. Or so it felt to me when I was in there, anyway...

This was a harmless-if-unoriginal April Fool's prank by HF today on Facebook, but I'll be damned if those cans don't look sexy as ****:

I believe he's used the canning "joke" several years in a row now (along with everyone else and their mom). Time for a new unfunny joke to use I think.

Everett man, Everett. I got a semi thinking of a 30 rack of those cans...

for winter, sure... but I guess the sun beaming in my window now has me thinking fresh hops and a low abv saisons

as a guy from IN who has been to hilly farmstead 1 time ever....

assuming they can actually enforce this new rule (which is sort of doubtful i guess), are there enough people that get to HF on a regular basis to buy all these beers at 1/per?
I guess they can raise the limit on things too...

highly possible i could be wrong because i'm "not from around there", but in my head it's the same few hundred people that can get up there semi-frequently (probably fewer if they can't grab a case of rare loot)...
