You had no idea that there a lot of really really sad "beer people" whop have nothing else going on in their lives but beer?

Dedication? I'd love the opportunity to hang out in Waterbury one night and hit up Hill Farmstead 2 days in a row. Sounds like a great vacation.

It really depends on what the limits will be for the limited offerings - 4 bottle limit of Flora B/B, lasting through the weekend? Probably worth it for the hardcores who drive 6+ hours for bottles. 1 bottle limit of Flora B/B, lasting through the weekend? Might as well stay home.

I'll use the same justification I do when talking about "pricier" bottles... as long as I am getting some 10/12$ saisons in bulk it more than makes up for it...

Why, because you cant max out on limited bottles two days in a row? Personally I will be happy with the allotment I get and will certainly go back the next day and get more growlers. Half the reason they probaly did this is exactly due to the fact that people went up for Flora B/B and then went back the next day again with said mules and cleaned house. If I went up with my wife and we went Wednesday and Thursday and maxed out limits we would have walked away with 16 bottles. I certainly don't feel slighted or hurt by the new change. It is what it is.

i agree with you. ive never done an overnight trip to go twice for a release, just a cannonball run.

Personally, if I were taking a vacation somewhere, I'd want to see many of the breweries in the state making great products vs. spending additional time in line at hill farmstead so I can grab an extra bottle to trade.

my overnighters were never purposely to double dip.. but I would be lying if I said I never did go back the second day... I mean, why wouldn't you if you already took a 6-7hr trip and were within an hour of HF the next day...

this shouldn't affect my frequency of overnighters though... I've been feeling like I've done too many cannonball runs lately and miss hanging out with my VT friends

if anything, it will make my return day shorter if I don't drive back up to HF before coming home.

eh, I hear what you're saying about spending time on line for a bottle to trade... but at the same time, if you've been to most of the other breweries before you might prefer just to get extra HF than something from another brewery you don't care for as much

Do you even Rock Art bro?

don't get me wrong.. I'm absolutely happy with the new policy and it will not discourage me from making multi day trips to VT... but to criticize people who have taken advantage of the old policy that allowed them to go multiple days in a row is a bit extreme...

my problem was with all the mules that are up there that don't drink beer... I've heard the "my son in England" excuse which is bad enough but when you get handed a business card of a professional mule... then you know feel bad for people who take the trip and miss out

lol, definitely not criticizing, more just impressed at the dedication.

That said, I find it hard to believe most have visited all of the below:
Lost Nation, Fiddlehead, Crop, Pro Pig, 14th Star, Zero Gravity, Four Quarters, Queen City, Bobcat, Drop In, Foley Brothers, Otter Creek, Trapp, Bent Hill, Burlington Beer, Infinity

Some are better than others, but most have offerings worth checking out.

It's not just professional mules. I've seen people using their grandparents (literally grandparents, 70 somethings ) .

Last time I was up in VT and was in line at Hunger Mountain the morning of the Heady drop, there was this 70ish grandma bringing out a case who could barely even carry the thing. Those of us in line who observed it all doubted she purchased that case for her personal consumption (although I suppose stranger things have happened).

The new policy makes sense if their goal is ensuring the beers last at least into the weekend, and possibly more than one week, and get into as many hands as possible, because it prevents the same people from hitting it Wednesday and Thursday (which is also when the bottle limits are going to be highest).

Vermont is full of old people with no income and lots of free time. Muling seems like good business for them to be in.

I was contemplating making a business card, for when I get asked the inevitable in line "Are you getting your full allotment of (insert limited beer here), because I will pay you for your bottles."
Just hand them a card listing my rate, $200 seems reasonable. Better then telling them to **** right off, and making it awkward for everyone around.

sadly, a mutual friend of ours often uses a mule or 2 when he goes up...

I'd say like 75% of the people here have used a "mule" at one time or another. Whether it's a stranger, your girlfriend, , uncle, grandparent, friend whatever. Unless that person is keeping all the beer for themselves and drinking it (or at least drinking it with you), guess what...they're a mule

my girlfriend goes to a lot of breweries/releases with me, but she enjoys and drinks it with me. hell, on her last visit to HF she loved that May 2014 Arthur so much she got a case for herself that I'm not allowed to touch without her approval!

It's a bit of a relief in some ways. Can actually enjoy the rest of VT without the the pressure to return to HF, which eats up half the day even if you're towards the front of the line.

did any of you idle shitheads help her? or did you just stare in dismay?

After a couple of seconds I thought about doing just that but by then she was already at her car, luckily she was in a spot right next to the door.

A few moments after that a tricked-out Escalade pulled up right next to the line and a guy wearing a suit and tie jumped in with a case of Heady. The whole scene was kind of surreal.

How you gonna do Kingdom Brewing like that? SMH.
