....

Limit 3 wild old ale (divisive style) for a pretrade limit 2 bourbon barrel aged barleywine (one of the highest trading styles).

Are you seriously surprised you got no bites?

I got nothing thus far for a Kuhnhenn BBBW and a 4D. I didn't post it to the other site though. Don't want to resort to that yet.

I went to HF last week for my first time and noticed there was definitely some folks who were the quintessential "mule" types. It happens at any place with limits. The first guy in line for the day bought 3x the limit of everything without his mules actually being there (they let us in early). They showed up just after opening and got in line.
Once they got to the front they tried maxxing out on CD10's and were denied by the staff as their bud who was first already maxxed out using them as his means to max out. I think they were dumb enough to mention they were with the guy who was first.
Good on the HF staff for trying to curb this.
Needless to say, they were unthrilled.

I think the distance required to get there often times leads to others going along for the ride and many of those others are the non-geeks, moms/dads, girlfriends..... mules....
Hopefully they all get to try some HF they are muling and enjoying it. :)

Haven't there also been numerous stories about how - since HF, Alchemist (well, not anymore), etc. have started appearing as destinations/things to do in various Vermont tourist guides and websites - all kinds of non-beer people tourists show up (especially old people) with no conception of what the place is or how it operates? I've heard anecdotal stories about people pitching fits because they couldn't order a pint of beer, and things like that. Or people waiting in line, getting to the front, and then not ordering anything because they didn't realize it's not a bar.

I can totally see that:

"I want that beer that's ranked number 1 on BeerAdvocate."

"Umm, that beer is brewed by Alchemist, we don't sell that here. Would you like to try..."

customer storms out angrily just as they were about to be offered a sample of Abner.

This is how it's been on the west coast regarding Plinny the Elder for awhile now. Fun, isn't it? :D

Anyone going up tomorrow? Earl is back! Abner + S&S 5, a bit left of CD10 and Aaron!

It seems like HFS is always a special trip these days but Abner + S&S5 is enough for a drive up. CD10 + Aaron are just icing on the cake.
I will say that I thought Abner was THE ****. Until I had S&S5. They are EQUALLY the *****. Damn.

Cause you can get a soft tote for free that does the same thing?

where do people bring these totes? Is there a scene of high class tastings where a classy wood tote is required?

Not saying they aren't nice or well done, just that they are pointless and no one would buy them if they weren't on sale at HF and usually with bottles you can't otherwise get in them.

I can see that being a reason for not buying them... but a hearty laugh? you have to remember we are all here because we spend too much money on beer which we eventually piss out... not many of us here are the model for a smart spender...

but I'm curious how this hearty laugh goes... is it more of a harharhar as opposed to the usual hahaha... or the softer hehehehe?

A nice soft hehehehe.

I'll piss my money away on beer all day, but wood totes, lol, next.
They're way too spendy for me, but you've never dropped cash on a nice bottle opener? Some kind of beer related artwork/tacker? Beer related clothing? Same idea just on a cheaper level.

I'm sure there are people out there who value crafts over beer and would rather spend their money on a nice tote and a 4 pack of Straw-Ber-Rita out there too though, so to each their own.

Oh I want that. How do I bribe you to let me be there when you crack those?

Don't bribe me, my buddy who is only on BA (trying to convert to TB) splurged on it. You will have to ask him.

Edit: it is not all 4 vintages of Vera Mae 11 12 13 14, it was 12 12 13 14. All silver caps. No gold cap for the 11 and not sure I'd want to drink it as it probably has fallen off by now.....

have a good hearty laugh everytime someone buys a tote.

Laugh away i dont mind i didnt buy it lol. Would I have bought it given the opportunity...... Id consider it. But unless it has Cherry Flora in the Cherry Tote i'd likely pass.

So how is Aaron? A couple surprisingly honest (i.e. not 5 star, best ever) Untappd checkins so far.

Wondering this as well...... Anyone open a bottle????? Has anyone has King Henry vs Bourbon County Barelywine vs Aaron ??

I need 9 bottles of Aaron. Who wants to help me do that? I want 1 now and one every birthday through 40. That would also make the Aaron 10 years from brewing.

Wondering if anyone has been able to land an Aaron in a trade as I am looking to score it

wondering what its going to take
