Really really looking forward to my trip up on July 3rd. Have to imagine if they're doing 2 case limits, it'll last that long

I would like to think it would last that long, but the most recent batch of Arthur (also a foudre batch I believe) didn't last long at all at a 1 case limit. Curious to see how this Anna batch goes. But I'm rooting for it to last a while as well!

Can someone clarify, who is under new ownership--Blackback or Mad Taco? Regardless, will miss the MT option at Blackback, that combo was my fav part of Waterbury visits.

I remember watching an interview with Shaun where he talked about how with the expansion, he's going to be able to brew almost 4 times as much beer per week. Has it been confirmed that his brewing capacity has already expanded with the first phase of expansion mostly done? Would seem so with the copious amounts of Arthur, Soigne, and Anna he's been releasing as of late.

Still the same brewhouse in the same space for now. Construction continues on...

Blackback

Any further details? Their fb page doesn't suggest anything has changed, weird. Is this related to Kings Head opening in Portland?

I believe it may just be partial ownership... some local/regular couple bought in. I met the guy Dave, I believe, last month... but yes, Rick will be away dealing with his new venture

Anyone not getting their full allotment of Anna, let me know! Will pay for bottles up front, pay for shipping, and send a thank you box with HF in return... anything from 3-12 would be rad.

right on Corey! will obviously do the same =]

Am I the only one who was consistently disappointed by the mad taco @ blackback? I LOVE the waitsfield and MontP locations, but thought the good at blackback sucked 90% of the time.

Every time I ate at Blackback mad taco I would always think to myself that the waitsfield location was miles away better. It was decent, but not up to par compared to waitsfield.

I hadn't hear that blackback was sold, that sucks as it was a great hole in the wall bar. So did Ricky move to Maine and that's why he opened up The King's head in Portland?

Heading up either 7/2 or 7/3 or actually heading down. Will be in Canada from 6/28-7/6. Have to go back north after HF though so not sure how much I can mule. Think it's like 24/12oz or equivalent without having to pay taxes.

as soon as cd10 hits i'm down. burnt the **** out of my hand yesterday, couldn't even drive to work so give me a few days to heal

Sorry, I only liked your post because of your avatar. It was an instinctive like and then your post sunk in.

Have also never been that impressed with the Mad Taco @ Blackback. Hope they keep the hole in the wall vibe going there though. Nice to have a divier place in Waterbury serving good beers
Yep...nope...The place is cleaned up. Fresh coat of paint on the walls. Blackboards are neat and clean, bottle trophies are gone. They are serving Aztlan mexican food currently (I've always like them better than MT). Which is this little hole in the wall mexican place behind-ish the TD bank parking lot only open for lunch during the week.
My only wish is that the beers stay the same...from the Oxbow FPA I had on Sunday, for now it looks that way.

It's also under new ownership, and they don't sell the fishing tackle and all that anymore. I liked the idea of Mad Taco being there more than the execution. But it's always been my favorite of the Waterbury pubs and I hope it doesn't lose that vibe.

All of this.

The person running the food there now has started moving in and setting up, I think the stove is getting delivered today. Very exciting for them :)

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little worried about Blackback, at least in terms of how I like it...

I liked the vibe and atmosphere it had before. I hope it doesn't change TOO much.

This, I liked the laid back dive bar thing they had going. Blackback is definitely my favorite of the 3 bars. Hopefully they keep the same bartenders upfront at minimum.
