is Parker Pie the pizza joint that everyone raves about? asking because my wife & I are spending the POST-anny weekend week in VT and I was advised to hit up a great pizza joint w/ killer brews
Yes. It is a must stop. Parker Pie >>>>>>> Positive Pie in terms of both pizza quality and beer list.

Seconded, Parker Pie kicks the ass of Positive Pie if you ask me. That said, Positive Pie is still great.

Go to Parker Pie, order the Green Mountain Special and wash it down with a few Edwards. Get multiple pizzas if you'd like, Scott's Revenge is awesome too. But if you go there and don't get the Green Mountain Special, you are doing it wrong.

Most importantly of all: do not discuss the bottle list at Parker Pie, ever, with anyone. What happens at Parker Pie stays at Parker Pie.

Also the Bangkok Disco. So good.

I'm working a few days to help out with a construction project next week which will net me a few hundred extra bucks of spending money. Seriously considering driving up for all this...

If I do come it's mostly just to get shitfaced drunk and I'm limiting the amount of stuff I bring back. I might mule for people here if they pay me in advance or something. Flying is also an option...

I can't just go to VT and not max out on growlers at Hill, grab a case of heady, max out on at least Double/Triple Sunshine, etc. Throw in gas/tolls, hotel, not to mention the absurd amount I'd drop at bars on beers/food.

Dat's an expensive trip meng

ok, wrong spot for this i'm sure, but is there a place a feller can stop on, say, this thursday that might have a few 4-packs of heady? i don't need to clean a place out or anything, but a few friends have requested a pickup if i can find it. I'll be traveling from HF to Providence, RI.

Thanks for all of everyone's help, just want to make the most out of the roughly 5 hours of "beer stuff" i'm getting to do on a wedding road-trip haha

I think there's going to be draft as well considering they're going to have a cask of it at the Mad Taco that Saturday morning

First I'm hearing of this place. Another to add to the list for future trips. Hard to beat those burgers at Three Penny though...

Dude you want burgers, go to Worthy Burger. So much hngggggg
Yes, this is the correct answer. I'm lucky enough to be 30 minutes from WB, it's an insanely great spot. HF beers on usually and incredible burgers and fries. All farm to table stuff too, fries cooked in beef tallow. One of the owners (Jason) is a fish guy, don't sleep on Worthy Seafood options either.

Really though, Worthy Burger with bacon and jasper hill blue is all you need.

It's become the one absolute go to food stop for me in VT.

I must be crazy. been to Worthy Burger twice now and found their burgers very dry and crumbly, even compared to other grass-fed/organic/farm-to-table type of burger joints around here. not a fan...

Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks my friend.

Think any of those will last past the weekend? Unfortunately I'll be up there the week after but hope I get to try something tasty.

Also, does anyone have a preference between the 2 Hen of the Woods locations? Do they have the same menus? Is there a difference in quality? Atmosphere? Beer lists?

Waterbury all the way for me. The food is comparable at both places, the Burlington location has some staff that started at the Waterbury one, so the food quality isn't an issue. Atmosphere I much prefer Waterbury for dinner, but Burlington has a bar and is more of a hangout spot, for better or worse. Burlington is more of a hip joint whereas Waterbury has a flawless "upscale casual" feel. Waterbury only has 2 taps, Burlington is more of the beer destination. I generally drink wine when we go out to the Waterbury Hen, but they often have at least 1 variety of Cantillon. Last week they had St. Lam for ~$45 i think.

dress code for Hen Waterbury?

Not really. I mean, I wouldn't roll in there with a white T shirt that said "I'M HERE TO DRINK BEER AND **** *******" in big letters on the front, but it's pretty much all good within reason.

I've definitely gone out to eat there in a tshirt, jeans and sneakers. Definitely a little underdressed compared to the rest of the folks there, but no one seemed to mind. You'll fit right in with any shirt with buttons, jeans that aren't stained/ripped and shoes that are not sneakers.

I usually reserve that one for church anyways...

thinking of having a bday dinner there... may have to reserve now for memorial day, right?
