Did Daybreak sell out?

Anybody had both the original Daybreak and the new one yet? How does the Grand Marnier barrels affect it? The old one was rated fairly poorly on BA.

Obviously my fanboyism of Hill Farmstead is coming through but I really liked the first Daybreak. Traded DontDrinkBeer for a 2nd bottle of it after having it at a tasting and then buying one for myself.

Will open the BA version on Saturday with my buddy and give it a try.

Edit: soon I'll be celebrating my personal goal since entering craft beer in January of 2012..being the top HFS rater. I know a lot of people on this site **** on the idea but i'm stoked. Once I review BA Daybreak, CD8, Port Damon & DB Damon I'll just need one more unique beer to enter the top on rateBeer.

Still permanently ISO CD 1 & CD 2 because I really need those ticks.

Solid stout but the barrel and citrus character is faint at best. You can pick it up in the finish if you're looking for it. Only had the original on draft once and I recall a similar experience...really having difficulty pulling out much flavor beyond the base stout. Very good but not the unique experience I was hoping for.

Yeah, it's definitely low by HF standards. And a rating that low for any beer never gets me excited. 95+

Drinking the Grand Marnier variant right now. I heard it didn't have much carbonation, so I gave it a hard pour and got a nice head, although it faded quickly. Carb isn't an issue in the taste. First sip was a bit dark and roasty, didn't notice the citrus. And then on the back end I sensed the GM barrel, slightly. A few more sips, HUGE citrus on the back end. Half way through the bottle now and really enjoying it as it's warming up. Nice balance of flavors. Lots of lacing left over on the glass.

Never tried the original.

id say at least 3 hours if you got there after opening. we got there at 1145 after the alchemist release and were out around 215. They did have a bottles only line if you wanted, though.

I got there at 11:40 after the Alchemist release and got out at 1:40.

you must have been right in front of us lol, i did have to wait for the 2 guys behind me, so that may have added a few minutes. one of our buddies up front got there at 1130 and was out about 1:10.

Hey HF guys, just curious as I'll be in the neighborhood sometime this May, how long are the lines usually? I'd probably be there on a thursday or friday, would love to drink some beers there and grab some bottles (sounds like those may be separate lines?).
Just looking for about how long of a trip it might be, i'm working around a wedding in Providence.

When i get plans together, i'll post up a "who want to meet up" or something, but working on the logistics now!

It's all a matter of when you go, during the week you'd have the best shot of a "short" line. Since many people don't want to deal with the growler / tasting line, they've been pretty cool about having a bottles-only line to expedite people getting in and out. If you do want to have any beers up there, they'll be limited to 4 2oz pours and you have to be in the growler fill line to enjoy them. The limits were dropped from 5 growlers (any size) to 3 growlers in the past year to also help expedite the time in line as well.

I hope that helps! Either way, it's a great experience to just get that far away from it all and just enjoy the air and the beer.

well thanks for the into, we'll try to get there early then. no stranger to long lines (DLD lols), but we may not have 4-5 hours to burn as opposed to 1-2 hours.

Did that exact same thing last week. Had a large Green Mountain and an '09 LP Gueuze with a buddy. Was not disappointed.

Went back after visiting HFS and had another pizza and Excursions on tap.

On that note, Prohibition Pig had KBS 2012, Everett, Society 6, Edward on tap last night. I had WAY too much fun.

Except I live in Missouri and will have to make said pizza from scratch. Recommendations for a solid cheese to use for this? Was thinking a mozzarella+cabot cheddar mixture, leaning more on the mozzarella.

Also, what kind of sauce is used? I'm assuming an olive oil garlic base?
