I'll stop posting in this thread sometime soon, but does anyone know if there's glassware for sale right now? I've struck out the last couple times I've been there and there's no mention of it on the website anymore.
There were glasses being sold this past Wednesday.

Vera was my favorite for a long time but the last batch had too much medicinal brett character for me. edith would figure last in my non-ba hf saison hierarchy

I like this little saison ranking thing I seem to have inspired. Don't get me wrong, I'll take any and all of them over most every other saison I've had. Soigne is just.... amazing.

But if I were to rank them:

Soigne/Vera Mae > Suarez > Edith > Florence > Arthur > Anna > Clara > Sankt Hans
Seriously, is there any right answer? wrong answer? All I know, except for the first Sankt Hans I ever had, I seem to finish every saison saying that it was my favorite and I need moar now....ISO Soigne
Edith > Florence > Arthur > Anna > Clara > Sankt Hans > Soigne/Vera Mae > Suarez
Arthur > Anna > Clara > Sankt Hans > Soigne/Vera Mae > Suarez > Edith > Florence
Clara > Sankt Hans > Soigne/Vera Mae > Suarez > Edith > Florence > Arthur > Anna
Sankt Hans> Soigne/Vera Mae > Suarez > Edith > Florence > Arthur > Anna > Clara

And...throw 6-12 months on any of these and bang yum...

batch 2 is drinking nicely...

If anyone can grab Soignes or Arthur's for me, I'd be happy to send any bruery goodies your way (Black Tuesday, beauregarde, bottleworks xii, KSitR, ) or any NC beers you'd like.

Looks like I better take out a big pile of cash from the bank before next week. I wonder if Shaun will let me buy some extras if I tell him I drove 1000 miles for them.

I went to HF yesterday and it was slammed. It took 2.5 hours to get growlers and every non IPA-like beer was running out before I got to the front. Sucks, but I'm glad they had bottles or it would've been a complete waste of time.

The sample of twilight I tasted was back on point tho.

I thought the batch was initially off the day it was tapped, but a growler I opened recently was fantastic, and just what I remembered from last year. Guess it just needed a bit more time for the vanilla to poke through.

Yeah, it was nuts. I was there at 11:30 and still didn't get out with growlers until 1:30.

Twilight was killer. Also thought George was awesome - hadn't had it before, and don't really drink browns anymore, but man that was tasty.

Anyone else notice the schedule whiteboard?

How is it that a bar in Iowa is selling HF and Heady Topper? Are the distribution laws so lax that they can go pick it up from the brewery and resell it? The prices are obscene too.

Grassroots / HFS has distro licenses in PA, NY and VT. These are illegal sales of both Heady and Hill Farmstead beers and the prices are absolutely outrageous. Walden is not an expensive beer and it's a shame. Kegs do get out. shaun has stopped selling kegs to people like me (public customers) and only to shops that keep clean draft lines and don't price gouge.

That's what I assumed, but I didn't know if this bar had some "special relationship" with HF.

Edward was on tap at Dark Lord Day last year, but there is always a lot of out of distro stuff there. I think pours were only $5 too.

That's seriously shady. Unless that guy is friends with Shaun and Kimmich, I'd say he road tripped to Vermont and is now selling stuff way marked up. Crazy prices, illegal, and who knows how old that Heady and Walden is.

That said, I'd GLADLY pay $35 for 2012 Vera Mae.

Still, that's awful.

Shaun has sent kegs out. People forget it's a tiny barn in the middle of nowhere so like Mikkeller Bar SF said Abner would be on tap for their opening weekend but then that ended up not happening. shaun & Mikkel have a good relationship so it was likely that there just wasn't enough Abner to send a keg.

From my observations, Shaun makes sure their shop has all draft lines full at all times..that's priority. Secondary priority is making sure their top accounts are taken care of. If there are kegs left, they go to distro states and finally to weddings, friends of the brewery and special events. Edward is brewed twice a week so that makes sense. Walden is more of a one-off / twice a year beer so I assume it was acquired through non-approved means.

shaun is aware of it probably via Ron D and then myself. I don't think he has time or energy to act on this but I'm going to assume it's not allowed but I can't say what he's going to do about this.

it's sort of like a guy coming up and buying 12 bottles of Arthur and then driving them down to chicago and selling them at $50 per in their shop. That could technically happen and the bottles would be gone before ABC even caught wind of it.

That was Shaun's gift to FFF for DLD if I recall. I believe Shaun has said he wants to go to DLD one of these years.

Shaun commented on it multiple times on twitter. First about the Walden keg, then about the 35 dollar Elab one bottle. He did not seem pleased. I can't blame him. The saison/wild bottles are one thing, whatever. I could give a rat's ass about "illegal" sales of those, although the markup is pretty disgusting, but whatever.

but the two month old keg of Walden.. Yeah. I love their response on Facebook, "it's in good condition, we wouldn't sell it if it wasn't!". yeah, at a dollar an ounce, I'm actually pretty sure you would sell it. Just like those Headys are undoubtedly only a week old.

Jerkoffs.

Shaun used to send kegs to certain NYC bars he had good relationships with (Double Windsor, Bierkraft, Alewife, Blind Tiger, 4th Ave Pub) but he mentioned on Twitter that this year he didn't have the capacity to send out any. Hopefully this expansion means a return to the random "Holy ****, George/Edward/Foster is on tap at Double Windsor" kind of night. He hinted at it on Twitter recently.

This would seriously be fantastic. I haven't seen any HF in the city since April or May I want to say. When the hell did Torst open? Around that time.

I'm really hoping for the same thing in Philly. For a while (not long ago at all) finding HF in Philly wasn't all that uncommon. But I haven't seen kegs in months at least.

Totally forgot about Torst!
I remember a few months ago Shaun was Tweeting with Alewife and asked if they put up the special kegs he had sent them. Anyone know if they ever put them on?? Or what they are/were??

Honestly I don't want to pay Torst prices for HF. I'll gladly travel to 4th Ave/Tiger/wherever.

And Mass, Armsby Abbey and Lord Hobo get it legally.

If I remember correctly, I think Bierkraft was even doing growler fills one night of George. Not sure how much though. Knowing them, probably upwards of $30 - 40/growler.

I actually find that Bierkraft's growler prices are pretty fair. Bottles on the other hand...

That being said, there's no better feeling than walking into Pony, Tiger, Ginger Man, etc and seeing HF on tap when you had no idea it would be there

The owner probably drank them himself like he did for Lord Hobo during the week of Zwanze day and only tapped a keg of Walden for $10 a pour.
