Fun fact - Shaun had tentatively planned to name an early IPA - Samuel. I recalled the name already being associated w/ Hill.
Vera Mae was nearly named Edward.
Here is a copy, paste from Hill's website:

Brew #1 (March 1 target): Spontaneous Coolship project with guests (Aaron)
#2: Russian Imperial Stout destined for spent Utopias, Brandy, and Wine barrels (Damon)
#3: IPA (tentatively named Samuel)
#4: Farmstead Saison, Spring Variation (tentatively named Edward)

So which IPA got renamed ?
#5 was Abner, a double IPA, that stuck

now I'm caught reading more of these blog posts. I wonder if #3 is what ended up being Edward

Elaborative 1 is my guess, since Chad from Crooked Stave & Brad from Jackie O's brewed with Shaun. Though released in 2013, I believe they brewed it in 2011.

Timing isn't right though... HF released beer in 2010, so if Elab 1 was 2011, it's way off from brew #1.

This blog post makes it sound like that original schedule actually changed and brew #1 ended up being IPA: http://hillfarmstead.com/earlyyears/2010/3/29/brewing.html

EDIT: I should have kept reading, http://hillfarmstead.com/earlyyears/2010/4/16/reflections-on-the-beginning.html makes it very clear that Brew #1 was, in fact, Edward

Edward was definitely brewered ealier, no question about that.
I was simply guessing at which beer fits the description next to brew 1, coolship w/ friends.

So anyone know the whole strategy that Matt Lefevre is utilizing by trying to trade for 30 bottles of Samuel? Every other trade post seems to be him throwing out some mead, bourbon, beer whalez. (In b4 well you should just leaving FB trading groups cause they all suck ass anyway).

It's the Joel66 model. Hoard, control the market, sell when high.

Trade for bourbon, then sneakers then convert back to lambic.

That's his MO for a lot of new hype whales. You can't say he tries to low-ball anyone though.

Edit: you can always tag him and ask

Anyone ask the question why CW members were allocated 2 bottles when the norm has consistently been equal allotment for a large majority of public releases?

because it's a membership and has it's perks. We didn't get Ann because of the chaos that ensued with the public release. I know, we are so forlorn and neglected.

No one has tagged him yet?
