A little Hill Farmstead/FIB humor:

Jeffery (1880-1951) was a neighbor of our grandfather and a thorn in the side of the entire Hill family. He was a failed lawyer turned hoarder of all things beer related. He would pay the out of work railroad workers 3 cents to stand in line for a cup of ale which he would then consume and brag how he was the only person who drank that specific ale. The Hill family despised Jeffery so much that they bought his land after he passed away and now use it for their outhouses and other waste materials. In his honor they brew this extremely inexpensive pils using boastful hops. This is the beer that I dream I would have refused to sell to Jeffery and then maybe he would have fallen outside the farm and injured his neck causing him to wear the neck brace of beer karma shame.

Following through, albeit late. The fills, they are big and they are also beautiful.

SS2 was on last legs.

SS2 is probably one of the least impressive HF beers I've had. At the same time, probably one of the best black IPAs I've had, which tells you everything you need to know about that style.

I adore the style for the fall. Roasty, chunky goodness to stick to my ribs but still have it be juicy enough to be refreshing. James is absolutely ridiculous, haven't made it up there to get my pudgy, awful fingers on S&S2 though.

Ha - GuzzleMcBrew and I had this exact conversation yesterday. With that said S&S 2 comes way ahead of Holger Dansk and Sankt Hans for me.

Well Ann signups were supposed to start but seems like they're already having trouble with the site lol. Was letting you signup but wasn't charging the fee, now it's blocked and saying "Sales Begin Jan 15 at 10:00am."

too bad most black IPAs aren't roasty - most seem to just be a IPA/DIPA with some coloring from grain - why bother if that's all you're gonna do?!

The only one I really, really like is Armored Fist from Boneyard.

It tells me you don't like the style but not much more than that. Unless you became the High Overlord of Beer when I wasn't looking.
