I am a VERY VERY new person to the field - so much so that this website (with just a few threads, I am already thinking I have some ideas of where I want to go).

I have NEVER brewed in my life, and while I do drink Beer, I have some very peculiar tastes and I am looking to start making my own. (not to save money as much to be able to tweak the taste and create what I am looking for ...)

In any event, if you all have some good starting points, I am all ears. I will be reading all the Beginners posts in the next week or so even before I get started.

The drink I am most interested in is a take off of Strongbow - Hard Apple Cider.
Love the stuff.

If I wanted to look primarily at ciders for now - what do people suggest for the beginners kit? Location to purchase etc?

Welcome! You don't need to get a kit, ciders are amazingly easy. It's a good idea to look at the Cider forum and search the term Apfelwein which is hard cider. Edwort's recipe is particularly good. I've had some that Ubermick made using his recipe, it was delicious.

Good luck man! I just brewed my first batch on Tuesday (IPA). This forum helps a lot. Read all you can. I'm also going to try my hand at a cider soon. I do like the Strongbow a lot, my other favorites are Fox Barrel Black Current and ACE Perry.
