Hi, my name is Joshua most people call me Josh or Bryson, Im currently in kuwait awaiting to go home back to Alabama. Im in the army national guard and love it. I decided I wanted to brew some beer for a new hobby when I get home so I figured I would start here and get to learning, as in what kit to buy where to buy and what I need. Im wanting to start small and work my way up. My other hobby's are working on cars and smoking cigar's so why not brew beer? Anywho I guess that about sums it up. Anyone else from Bama?

Well that all depends on what job I get. I was working as a tech at a dealership but our GOV got me 2 times with NO lube this past yr lol, but the home town in Pell City,AL. Thats near dega and mody/leeds, bham. How about you

Hello, Bryson. I'm in Jacksonville. Look me up when you get back. I'll get you going all-grain ASAP. It's not that hard, doesn't have to cost alot, and the rewards are greater. It's where you're headed anyway, right? Thanks for serving, and Welcome.

Hi Bryson,

First, thanks for serving. I truly appreciate your sacrifice.

In addition to the excellent advice here, there's a homebrew store in Birmingham called Alabrew (www.alabrew.com) that can help you get started. There are also several in the Atlanta area including Brewmaster's Warehouse.

I'm in Indian Springs (a suburb of Birmingham) and there are a lot of Alabama home brewers here.

Welcome to HBT.

I recommend this starter kit from Northern Brewer: http://www.northernbrewer.com/brewing/starter-kits/deluxe-beer-starter-kit.html

I really like the clear fermenters better than the plastic buckets because you can see the yeast in action which is always fun. I actually use the plastic Better Bottles rather than glass because I broke one of my glass carboys. You only have to do that once before you start looking for other options. But I really like the Better Bottles.

Also, I recommend their kits to start with. They are reasonably priced.

Good luck with the new hobby!!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Maybe when I get home I can get together with some of yall and learn a few things. Honestly all this so far I read is jibbrish so far lol but def willing to learn. Also thank you for your support of the military without people like you we couldn't do what we do everyday.
