Hi All,

New to the forum & a relatively novice brewer living in a suburb of Sydney, Australia.

I'm doing small batch, (10 litre - approx 2.65 gallons) all grain BIAB on my stovetop.

Have largely been keeping things simple & cheap but do have an old fridge with temperature control.

The small batches have allowed me to brew more often, so I've tried a few different things. Whether they are authentic or true to style is hard for me to say but I have been enjoying the hobby.

Looking forward to learning a few things & getting to know some of you on the forum.

Thanks for the welcome all. I'm definitely enjoying the small batches.

Some of the styles that I have given a go so far that I can think of off the top of my head:
Kolsch
Czech pilsner
Schwarzbier
Dunkel
Hefeweizen
IPA
Strawberry (fruited) wheat beer
Berliner weisse, half the batch with lemon juice, half without
100% rye beer
Mead

I think I have pretty much worked out that I am not a fan of phenolic "Belgiany" yeasts but from tasting them, I do like some Belgian styles like lambics.

I am interested in sours in general, perhaps because they are so different to what I thought beer was all about from my previous exposure to mass produced beer.

I plan on trying out some other interesting things like higher gravity beers, eg barley wine. That's a style I haven't tasted a commercial version of yet, mostly because of the cost here in Australia. It should be interesting from a technical perspective. So far, because of small batch sizes, I haven't really had to work on starter cultures, etc.

If there are any suggestions as to any other styles that might be unusual or worth trying I am open to suggestions.

How do you like them? To me, that's the only criterion that really matters.

I brew beers that probably can't be easily set into a style, but I don't care--I like them, and others like them, and that's that. I have brewed others that are "to" style, but it just depends on what I want to do. Brewing a Rye beer tomorrow that probably can't be put into any particular style. I don't care. I like it. :)

Welcome! Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go and begin a starter.

Hey Mongoose, I like them plenty! ;)

I may be biased but for the most part I have been enjoying my all grain home brew much more than regular store bought beer.

I enjoy trying new things or trying to perfect a certain brew.

I like sharing a brew or two with friends or family as well.

I expect to be brewing for a long time to come.

Welcome from Minnesota.

Small batches are great. It's fun to experiment with them. I just brewed a 1 & 1/8 gal batch of Black IPA. Going to dry hop with different hops so I can compare. If one of them turns out good I may do a larger batch.
